Project Ek Coupe GSR Turbo (Auto to Manual) : Step One
alright was thinking through it all and thought it'd be a pretty good idea to document my little project that I got going on for further reference and to hopefully help out other people out there.
anyways here's the goal of the project:
source car: 1998 honda civic ex auto - apexi turbo
goal: automatic to manual swap, 96' odb II gsr swap, and apexi turbo install
i've been finding parts here and there for everything and came up with a pretty complete list if anyone is really interested in the fine details.
so far I currently have all the parts needed for the swap, including all the small maintenance things, and am just waiting on the motor from importautosalvage. By the way, randy at IAS is really a good guy and I would reccomend him to anyone who was looking to get a swap. I was kind of wary bout the milage of the motor (70k) but he assured me with a compression check and leakdown test as well as checking the tranny for grinds. That's the part that really impressed me, he could of said **** you and sold the motor to someone else but he took the time to check it out for me and I highly appreciate people like that.
So parts are gathered, research has been done and within a week or two we'll start step two with the help of fellow h-t peeps: mase, lshatchturbo, and a couple more. Wish me luck everyone and I'll be sure to document as much as possible so that I can actually contribute information to the site that's pretty much taught me so much.

auto turbo was actually going okay. at 5psi and using my 17's with a full heavy *** interior including a lot of **** i was too lazy to take out i managed a 15.1. Yea nothing to write home about but with more tuning and just simple things I could've been in the 14's like others.
buuut...no tranny cooler and upgraded tranny...and a year of abuse later, my car's tranny is dying and prolly has maybe another year before it goes. so before it completely goes to **** on me i decided to do a manual swap, and while I was at it, an engine swap.

clutch and various other maintenance things come in today and the most important part, the motor is scheduled for thurs friday delivery. also picked up some high temp vht black paint for my manifold and down pipe as well as some annodized metallic bronze for the valve cover and piping.

alllright, talked to randy at IAS again, and motor is actually ready to go one day early so I get it prolly thurs. or friday now. seriously great to have someone you can talk to at a business to work out things like this for you. i'm going to die from anticipation in the next couple days...prolly won't be able to sleep

So I noticed that you are using the bkr7e-11 spark plugs I have turbo chaged gsr and I have been running the stock plugs and looking for different ones are these the ones that I should be using?
that's what i've been told, i used the ones that were only a step colder for my sohc since it wasn't putting out anything really fierce so it ran fine. these were atcually pretty cheap.

be sure to use the correct bolts to mount the flywheel to the crank. the bolts that hook the autos drive plat to the flywheel are shorter.
looks like your project is going really nice, are you going to try to use most of your current turbo set up for the b series, or are you going to upgrade the turbo ?
just going to use the current turbo setup, according to glagola1 it just needs minor modifications. his numbers were really impressive for a small turbo so i figured i'd stick with mine...plus i'm realllllly broke now.
I have some questions about the parts used to the tranny swap. Can I use the pedal tree off any civic or integra 92 or newer?? How bout' the clutch lines, clutch master cylinder and reservoir??? good luck on the swap and turbo install!!!

umm ...im struggling here ...the unit that doesnt allow you to start the car in any gear but park .yeah thats it ..make sure to bypass that if you havent already

have fun w/ the hydralic cables install, theys a real bitch to install, also i got an action clutch when i did my auto to manual, its a real nice product and it's weird you don't here about them more often.
