Need a price check!
I found a 93 Civic CX hatchback this morning at a local dealer. It is charcoal grey, has 136k miles on it. Both rear quarter panels are a bit rusty and dinged up, and there are also a few dings in the doors. The hood has some chipped paint. Other than that, the car looks nice and runs smooth. The interior is pretty much in mint condition. They are asking $3900 for the car, but said I could take it for $3000 cash. What would you do? Thanks for any help!
What are you plans for it?
I say NO... A dealer can never give you a good price. If he is saying $3000 cash for the car, to me that means that the car is worth $1500.
Make a better offer that $3000. Of course, if you don't buy it I am usre someone else will buy it soon... sounds to me like the body is far away from perfect and it is a CX...... Way slowwwwwwwwww
(I have one, I know
)

Well, I plan on dropping a B16 in it in a year or so. You are right, the body is not perfect, but these things are damned hard to find. Thanks for your input!
Here's the deal.
Even if you do buy it for a little bit more that what it is always be worth that much.. Those cars prices have stabilized and the prices will not lower by time, in my opinion.
So yes, why not? If the A/C runds anf the motor doesn't sound like like a drum, buy it.. try to get a few hundred dollars off..
As far as the b16 swap youy are planning to do.. Don't count it
By that time you might change your mind.

Well, once you start reading here on H-T you will read many different opinions about waht swap id the best for the money.... and the b16 although it is a nice swap, has little torque compared to the b18c1 or the h22 swap...
The price you will be asked to pay for the b16a swap will be around $2400.... The extra $600 to get a GS-R swap (b18c1) is worth it and that is what MOST OF the people in here will tell you....
There are a few that have made their b16 really fast but it tool a lot of money and patience...
Many b16 owners have said "I wish I waited till I had enough for the b18c1"
Turst me, there is enough info in Honda_tech to read for the next 2 years, every day from 7:30AM-4:00 PM...lol

you don't ever ever buy a used car from the dealership....buy it from a private party...you'll save $$$. check the VIN on the hatch that you're gonna buy before you actually buy it...salvaged title cars should be really cheap and clean titles may be a little bit more $$$...
