How to ship tranny??? Did a search
Package it up good, and ship it via UPS or FedEx. From NM to NY-area it was $50 for an L3 cable tranny (to give you a rough estimate on your costs). Just make sure ALL of the fluid is out, as the shipping companies don't take kindly to leaky car parts.
yeah, drain it and wrap it with a roll of high quality clear plastic wrap (Saran, etc). this should keep it from dripping. then double-box it with a thin piece of wood in the bottom. I've shipped motorcycles via ups like this and they're cool with it. i sent a Honda CT70 from blacksburg VA to NM for $29.00 (ground service ~7 days)
I always get a fiber board from a local moving company that is rated like 300lbs. Drain the tranny well. Put it in 2-3 trash bags sealed. Put some of the foam in a can in the box.....set the trans in it....foam the rest of the space. works like a champ and the foam comes apart very easy from the plastic. I cant remember how many I have done this way.
