I dunno about stock, but they are too soft IMO. The H&R sports need to be paired with a serious 5 way adjustable shock to even get the full potential out of them. My set settelted way too much. So I'm kinda not happy with them.
I've heard good things about the Comptechs paired with OEM shocks. Even better comments with the Comptechs paired with Koni Yellows.

I disagree
its been about 2 years since Ive driven on stock ITR suspension, but from what I remember, when I first installed the springs, they felt nice and comfy on the stock shocks which were very new at the time. Even now with about 35K on them, they feel good. Just goes to show everyone has a difference in opinion and YOU never know until YOU try it.
By the way, use the search and you will get a lot more info and opinion. werd!

I've had my H&R Sports for about 5K now. I think that the ride is still very comfortable... not too rough for daily driving at all. Like most say, it really is alot like stock.
The looks are great, which is what I was going for since I only make about a half dozen autocrosses or HPDE's a year. I haven't noticed any additional settling. I still have a small gap so it doesn't look slammed, just a nice, lower look.
The stock rear passenger shock blew out after 4K. I replaced both rear with Tokico Blues. Feels just like it did before with the stock. Easy, cheap.
There are plenty of steep driveways and speed bumps where I live. If I take it easy over them there is never an issue with scraping (and yes I take it easy).
Overall, if you're doing this for looks alone... great, go ahead. Its a very economical way to change the looks on the car. Performance? Maybe not, but if you are like me you might not justify spending over $1000 for those 5 or 6 days of track use. Hell, if you don't like them, toss the stock back on... only takes about two hours to swap them out, and thats with hand tools. Good luck.

I have used the comptech with great results.... I used them up Pikes Peak!
Here's the deal - they are great if you want a 20 percent firmer than stock ride and a small reduction in ride height.
Also a Friend of mine used them when we raced one lap. I had skunk2 coil-overs 400 in front 500 in rear.... I owned him on the track and his car rode much better on the street!!!!
Also Comptech does not void warranty and will not overtax stock shocks....
If you go for shocks, get the koni yellow w/ adjustable perch they work great with the comptech springs.

I have had the H&R's on my 00 for a while now (almost 35K), while running the stock OEM shocks. Like many others have said, they are close to a stock ride.
However, you WILL have to be careful with steep angled driveways, speed bumps, and some parking lot bumpers. Slowing down, and angling in as much as possible are keys to avoiding the dreaded sound of plastic scraping.
Lastly, I too think that they are a little on the soft side, so I am considering changing to a slightly higher (than the H&R) spring rate coilover when it becomes time to change out my stock shocks.
The two things I don't like about my car right now are how it behaves on choppy roads at higher speeds (the stock shocks were not designed with this spring in mind, so they have too work just a little too much harder) , and how much the car still leans in the corners.
A lot of people like you, including myself, have posed the same question, so you might want to check out some of the wisdom dispensed. Time well spent, in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
