Default What radiators swap directly into a 89 CRX Si

Hey all..

I have this problem with my cooling system. I noticed lately that the temperature of my car rises damn near the danger zone, then resets to about half after the fan kicks in. I took a look under the hood and I noticed a crack up on my radiator that was fixed with no care by the previous owner (looks like JB cold weld was used, but now it has cracked and failed to seal, resulting in radiator pressure loss). I also noticed a residue running down my radiator from this leak-point and on anything else that the small stream would have come in contact with..

I was just wondering what kind of a radiator I could put in place of the stock 89 Si radiator.. maybe a 88-91 civic rad?

I'm going to replace my broken rad now with a stock rad if I am able to, but if I can't I need an alternative.

Thanks,
-Andy

Well you could just go buy a big over sized stock 4g rad. OR for the same price from your local parts store you could buy a stock @ CORE 92' Del Sol DOHC VTEC rad. which will give you ALOT more room under the hood and cool just as good when used with a nice fan. I'm using a FAL fan. Here's what I did and it's a HACK job but it works and is only temporary until I get my New Racing front cross member ( either Z10 or Jimi Fab ). Cut off your stock mounts. Do alittle cuttin in the fron of the cross member. Only bumper and plastic should be cut NOT the Cross member. You'll have to bang on your stock mounts to make them flat. Now clean the surface and hold the rad. up. Now weld the old mounts so they're now in fron of the cross member and not in back anymore. You'll have to make a custom bracket for the top of the rad. Once you start if you have some mechanical skills you'll see how everything is suppose to go. Like I said it works fine for me and is temperary unitl I get my new cross member and really how-to mount s 92' civic rad. is up to the person imagintation and what ever works SAFELY. I've seen a million and one different ways this is just mine.

92-95 Civic and Del Sol Radiator is too tall to fit properly in our cars without said hackjob.

The best idea is go to absoluteradiator.com and check out what they have for the 4G. They sell ALL METAL radiators which are much better than the stock ones with plastic endtanks. You can get OEM size and they also have a dual core one. I got the dual core one. I have strong feeling the dual core is actually a 90-93 Integra one, and I know they bolt right up to the 4G.

89civicdx, how did you do the 90 integra rad. I have one but the thing barely fits, can you give me some pointers.
