how many pounds should i torque the lug nuts down at? i was doing 85. but im not sure if thats too much or too less.

Torque to stock requirements. If the lugs can't take stock torque then they're garbage.

Use the stock 80 ft-lbs, and I'd also suggest applying some anti-seize to the lugs.
