Default new 95 gsr feels slugish, any advice?

i just got a 95 gsr its got 146k miles on it. i took it to 3 mechanics they all said its fine and runs good, but to me it feels kinda slugish before vtec hits. i raced a sohc accord and got smoked 1st and 2dn gears, 3rd i took him quick. we raced 2 times like this. any ideas what it could be? im thinking maby i launch to low? its my first car with vtec my last car was sohc. i think maby im use to low rpms of non vtec sohc. is it really that bad to rev the **** out of my car?

the motor is made to rev.. but.. maybe its the weight your feeling...or you need to do a tune up.. cap rotor wires plugs...and better gas "premium only"

gsr's make good power in the midrange........warm weather can also make the car feel sluggish. It is required that you use only premium in the GSR...so your on the right track....launch higher, and you'll be in the power ban

1rst of all take out the bosch +4s, I've heard bad things about them. According to some people, they can really do a number on your cars. replace them with NGK coppers from pepboys. Second, make sure you changed the fuel filter, air filter, wires, cap and rotor ( for the cap and rotor, only use oem honda parts). After that is done, make sure your oil is topped off, and begin practicing launches at around 4k, closer to 5k if you have very grippy tires. You should notice a dfference.

Your driving a small displacement NA four cylinder, its going to feel sluggish until you get higher in the RPM range.

Following maintenance (including valve adjustment)

Throw a decent header (bolt-ons...I/H/E) and I think you'll find it wakes up a good bit.

4-2-1 headers will improve the low end.
4-1 for high end.

gsr don't have much torque so launch higher and use prim. gas only. a tune up might help... like swap out thos sparks n use ngk's. you know the rest.

Yeah, get a valve adjsutment. I need one pretty bad too! Also change the cap and rotor on your distributor. Change out your fuel filter too.

IMO, then drive her HARD and see if that helps.

However, the 3rd gear in the GSR is feirce as hell. So dont be surprised if you didn't pickup a significant lead on the Accord you were racing. On most cars I race, I dont pull on them till 3rd. Then it's over.

I thought my GS-R was slow when I test drove it. Then I started beating people...a lot of people. It takes some time to get acquainted with the car. With that many miles, a full tune up wouldn't hurt either.

yeah, i run only 92 octane in my GS-R. That and the 55 shot make her feel real snappy at 4k rpms.

Well 4-1 headers are recommended for the Integra since you have VTEC for mid-range power. 4-2-1 is said to be for the low end...but you don't want low end, you want high end power!
