Default HELP! (timing belt)

Ok i desided to just try to tighten up my timing belt cause it was flapping to much and making noise. Now i removed it from the cam gears and loosened the tensionor. Now when i try to put it on i get a bigger flap then before on the exhaust, even when the tensioner is tightened. And when i put it exhaust side first the crank moves and its not TDC no more and when i put it on the cam gear it has a flap on intake side. I cant get a impact gun to take off the CP and i tried the in gear one, and putting something in the flywheel. Still no luck. Can someone please help me. Thanks.

Its a B18C and the engine is in the car.

I don't understand why you took the came gears off.

To adjust tension, loosen the tensioner bolt and spin the motor backwards by hand. 1/4" turn will be fine. Tighten the tensioner bolt and you're done.

Position your crank at TDC and Your Cams at TDC...Put the belt on and tighten the tensioner just a little...Then Turn your crank till most of the slack is on the intake side of the timing belt (near the tensioner) and tighten it up all the way...That should pull up all the slack...

it might help if you actually take off the crank pulley. you might need to buy a specialized tool though... there's a few out there... honda, moroso, etc. they simply hold the pulley in place while you undo the bolt. it might not be necessary to adjust the timing belt tension, but sometimes its just easier to do a job when you have the space and take everything apart.

you shouldn't have to take the belt off the cam gear. When you loosen the tentioner turn the crankshaft counterclockwise a few teeth hold it there and tighten the tentioner bolt that's it. your timing belt, regarding tension, should be able to turn 90 degrees if you grab it with your fingers and twist it.
