Driveshaft Shop Axles Problem...
ok, so i ordered some level 2's for my h22 coupe a couple months ago. finally finished the car, and after driving it normally for a bit (no launching or other activities of the axle breaking sort) i notices a large amount of black black oil/grease all around the rim and part of the engine bay.
well, since DSS refuses to answer their phone, and if they do, frank 'the guy that will handle my problem' is not there, i need some help from fellow HT-ers.
basically, i have no clue what is wrong with it, and i dont know what caused it. however, i know that since i spent close to $700 for axles, this should not be happening. and i should get a fix for the problem.
it was installed properly as well, so i really cant figure it out.
please help thanks

So what you're saying is that the axles don't seal up good on the tranny seals and sling transmission oil all over the place?
I think mine are doing that....at first it seemed like they were sealing, but I'm pretty sure they're not.
When the axles are as far in as they'll go, the tranny seals are still about an inch away from where they SHOULD meet with axles.
I'm also pretty sure they're shuddering when I'm in gear and stomp it.

i think the grease is coming from the rim side of the axle. theres nothing noticeable on the tranny side. its not the orange tranny fluid, its just straight up black oilish crap. probably the boots. but i didnt do anything to cause brand new axles to rip boots. i dont want to use stock honda ones i spent $700 for a reason, i want it right.
thing that sucks is DSS doesnt cover boots. even though, theres no reason i can think of for the boot to be messed up

The Hasport combo is the 90-93 Integra axles with a 90-93 Accord halfshaft.
I "hear" of some people having problems using this combo, the problem being that the passenger side Integra axle is .125" too short, causing leakage in some cases. The combo does work, but still you're trying to use factory pieces with a not-so factory setup so there will be problems.

frank at DSS told me he has a setup that uses the prelude inner shaft and that he actually prefers that.
i have not yet purchased these from him yet. i am considering just getting the h22 rollin on the standard combo first.
i have his axles for my mr2 and they are great. A friend of mine in the mr2 community is uses his axles in his 615rwhp mr2 with no problems... then again my other friend is running 1.3 60's on his stock mr2 axles so whatever.

That's the setup I have...but for whatever reason, I'm pretty sure my axles are too long.

i'm using DSS II and i love them! i'm also using the prelude halfshaft with them
the axles are great. no leaks or breaks....just as long as you have the accord forks to clear them.
BTW i'm using the place racing mounts.....

I'm using Level 1 passenger axle and Stage 1 driver axle using the lude midshaft, no issues at all. I've even beaten the hell out of them using slicks.
I'd call frank, he'll take care of you.

Called Frank at DSS, and he said that I'm not putting them in far enough, and that's why they seem too long.
I was like yes I am, but I think he thinks I don't know how to install axles.
I measured the maximum depth the axles are physically capable of going in, and then measured that distance on the input shaft, and they match.
So I know the axles are as far in as they can go, so something just isn't right.

It sounds like grease from the boot if its around the outer side of the axle and on the wheel. Have you looked closely at the boot to see if it is ripped?
Otherwise, you took a rubber mallet and hit the axle until it clicked in right?

aren't you only supposed to bang in axles if you can hold them completely straight and square to the tranny? Something that's very hard to do with the Hasport kit without something getting in the way.
