Ok guys,
This winter I am (Depending on money situation) getting my motor pulled and having the block bored 40 over and getting new pistons and rings. The head is also going to be ported and polished. The motor will be going through a total rebuild for reliability. I am at about $1800.00-$2000.00. The motor will eventually be supercharged. What else is a must to install in the motor while it is apart for strength and reliability. After market rods?, Different valves and springs? How much should I expect to spend on the parts and what company should I go with? Please let me know what you guys think I should get. Remember my decision has been made, I do not want a swap. Thanks

Get the rods shot-peened (sp?). For better compression you can use D16A1 pistons and/or a D16Y8 head gasket, but if you know you're going to boost, You probably shouldn't increase compression. Stainless valves would be nice also.
Since this site leans more heavily twards the "swap it" mentality, you may want to check out http://dseries.org . They've got some great info about building the A6 there.

Posted it there also, Thanks for the info. Keep it coming!
i know you dont want to swap but neither did i. I was gonna bulletproof my d series and turbo it till the machine shop told me that my block was wasted due to a spun bearing on the crank. so i opted for a swap instead and i am totally happier and it cost me alot less then building up a single cam engine. my ideas of a turbo kit just went from neccecity to accesory. if you catch my drift. just wondering why you dont want a swap if you dont mind me asking.
I built my single cam to the fullest extent possible. The rods are a weak link, and Eahles are cheap insurance. I'd try to get a pre-assembled head if I were you. With my motor work and the JG Proseries head, I could rev it up to 9500, but I think 8500 will be better for everyday. The reason I say this is because I priced out Ferrea valve components and the cost was HUGE!!! Love the a6 though, they're tough little motors. Good luck and keep us updated.

I have always liked the D16a6, I know what the motors are capable of. I am not looking for huge hosepower. I am looking for for a little over 200hp, But definitly not over 250. When I supercharge it after building the motor it should be around that area.
Besides, If I completely go through the motor I know where I stand for reliabilty with 0 miles. If I buy a motor swap I will not have the money to do any work to the motor. I don't know about you, But not knowing for sure how a motor was treated by someone else does not sit to well with me.
