How does "limp or safe mode" work and how bad is it for your engine?

 

it is a failsafe mode of operation that happens when there is a major sensor malfunction... it won't hurt your engine, but it isn't gonna run right until you get it fixed. It's basically a program within the ECU that operates off of a pre defined set engine parameters allowing you to get the car to a dealer for repair.

 

In limp mode, your engine can't get it up and feels inadequate compared to other engines.


Yeu covered it well, get it looked at because you don't want to run in limp mode for longer than you absolutely have to.

 

my car was in limp mode now that i got it fixed much better. Its like it holds itself back so far back that youll get annoyed to fix it.

Sure does.....It gets real annoying....Once fixed does the ECU go back to normal operation
