is my oil catch can working?
I have a Moroso oil catch can bolted on the passenger side of the engine bay where my battery used to be. It is actually bolted on the frame. The location is similar than the Realtime setup, except on the passenger side.

I removed the PCV and ran a clear hose from the black oil canister behind the block to the Moroso oil catch can. The vapors are now venting through the filter that came with the Moroso oil catch can. I know this is not legal, but I do not drive the car on the streets anymore, only when I am going to the track. I also have another clear hose running from the valve cover and T's into the hose than goes to the catch can. I have had this setup for 6 months now and there is not a single drop of oil in the catch can!! why?
I asked a frien and he said that oil catch cans are usuless unless I have FI or revving to 10k rpm's for extended time. Is that true?

why put the PCV valve back? I don't want a street setup!
I'm thinking that probably what's going on is that the OEM oil separator can is probably enough and there is no excess oil going to the Moroso can.

why put it back? because it won't hurt anything. the PCV will open under vacuum, and close when not so as to prevent oil from going back.
that's exactly what I did and said i my first post, but I guess I was not clear so let's try again:
I removed the PCV valve and tapped my new clear hose to the OEM oil separator nipple located in the back of the engine block where the PCV used to be connected to and from there I ran my new hose to the Moroso tank.
Again, I am thinking that the excess oil does not exceed the capacity of the OEM oil separator can and that's why I don't see any oil going to the Moroso can.
For people with an oil catch can and n/a engines, do you get any oil going to your oil catch can?
Also, since I no longer have a PCV valve, is the car loosing vacuum?

I have a functional PCV on top of my catch-can, and a bored-out PCV on my valve cover. My plumbing is slightly different because I have a B18B1 (no beather tank on the back of the block.)
I do collect plenty of oil though.
Using the "filter" that comes with the breather tank is not recommended as there is insufficient vaccum created in the catch can.
Here's the way my setup (B18B1) flows:
Intake Arm --> Valve Cover :: Hollow PCV on Valve cover --> Side of Catch Can :: Functional PCV Valve on top of Catch Can --> Intake Manifold Plenum :: Bottom of Catch Can --> Drain spout.
Also the Catch Can will drain back into the block using one of the ENDYN adapters.
I will install this shortly (It's been on my to-do list for a while). This will elimnate the need to drain it after very 2nd or third oil change.

ok. I undertsnad now that I need a PCV valve and vacuum created by the IM. Now, what are the side effects of not having PCV valve and not having enough vacuum the way I have my setup?

I don't think any of the blow-by gases would be drawen out without the vacuum created by the intake manifold.
Don't connect it to the intake manifold without ditching the breather or you will get a very high idle.

It's not working, you get less performance.
