4 point harness connection
i did a search, but came up without results.
i am putting a 4 point into my EG hatch. i am wondering if it is better to connect it to the bolts for the rear seatbelts, or is it better to connect them to a roll cage (which i plan to get also).
thanx in advance!!

The safest thing you can do is to have a cage in the car-with the horizontal bar located porperly. Look in the Simpson catalog-they have a drawing. Another thing, if you are doing a cage you should also seriously consider a race seat that is FIA approved-Sparco makes several that comply as do others. The seat is rigid and is designed for race belts.

it is "better" to get the 5th point so the harness does what it is supposed to do.
also , FYI harnesses should ONLY be mounted to a harness bar on a rollbar/cage , the angle far exceeds what it should be bolted to the floor , infact the potential exists for it to rip the seatback straight down when involved in a frontal impact , taking your shoulders with it.
broken bones arent fun , do it the right way.

what is the best roll cage company out there? i want the strongest one i can get. maybe the one with the complete circle of bars behind the seats, and then some bars by the a-pillars. not quite sure what that type is called.

Lots of good info already in the archives. Just avoid any thread where "bars" is spelled with a "z." There's even a recent thread on cage design which you might find useful.
