Default Exhausts

I need a new exhaust ASAP, and im trying to pick out the best.

Performance is definatly number 1 for me but i still would really like to get a quiet/stock sounding/looking one. Whats a good one that gives good HP but still doesnt sound like a damn bumble bee on crack and looks abnoxious.

So for i have heard Greddy Evo is hella good but ther loud as ****. I heard Tanabe is really really loud and Apexi sounds ricey. Is this accurate? What else is there thats a good name brand? And finally do u lose any HP when ur exhaust has one of those silencers on them?

Thanks

The World Sport is very close to stock, if that is what you want..go for it.

The Apex N1 is very deep, and very loud..if that is what you mean by ricey I would avoid it. but you will see better gains w/the N1 than the WS.

yeah i'm lookin for the same kind of exhaust. i've got it boiled down to the WS, Evo, or RSR Exmag.

i like the RS-R, but i hear it's not much of a performance gain...

Yeah I've got the Apex'i WS and I like it has a nice sound to it...a bit nicer than stock I assume...if you want something nice and not too crazy I recommend it.

I'd like to try something w/a little more performace gains but I want to keep the noise to a minimum for when cops feel like tailing me they don't have any excuse to pull me over.

I hear good things about the Greddy Evo, so it isn't annoying or cop-attracting?? If not I might try that when this one gets old.

I hear the Greddy Evo is prone to rust, is this true?

I like my greddy evo, I bought it used for 250 off the classifieds.

Ive had it on for over a year and the muffler or tip has'nt rusted, the underside of my car is dirty so I cant tell about the pipes(damn dirt roads).

I would highly recommend it, It gives a deep sound that is not ricey at all and sounds best when vtec hits. Im sure it will sound better when I hopefully get an SMSP header in the future and a carsound cat. The sound now is not too loud at all, Ive been pulled over twice since ive had it and I have asked the cops if it was too loud they said no.

I have the greddy SP, and if you like deep, non-intrusive sound, this by far, from what I have heard on a lude, does the best. The SP, I am guessing, is quite like the WS, in it is not loud at all. I honestly forget the car has exhaust.

Yeah, I have the greddy SP and it has one deeep rumble. (I also have a 2.5" carsound cat which adds to the dB's) It's not obnoxious if you take off with a "light" foot and is fairly quiet. At WOT, it's a different beast.

I sandblasted my muffler and painted it flat black w/1500* engine paint, so there is no shinny chrome tip. Can't even see it from 30-40ft back.

Have you guys ordered stuff from these guys:
http://www.planetperformance.com

They have a good deal on the Apexi WS cat-back system... check it out!!!

Also, are the greddy sp or apexi ws bigger than the stock muffler or the same size??

Thanks for your comments.

Later.

RS-R all the way. Sounds pimp and way better throttle response. Especially on the highway and the higher rpm range.

Just get something w/good ground clearance, a decently sized muffler, and smooth bends, ie. Greddy, Apex, HKS, etc.

If the sound gets intrusive, take it to a respectable muffler shop and have them weld on an extra resonator.

My HKS Drager was hella loud like a GSX-R 1000 w/race pipes. Then I had them weld on a stainless steel Invidia resonator. Now it sounds throaty, just like a louder version of a Ferrari. Not too loud, cause that resonator kicks ***. Just my food for thought

Ok, lemme tell ya. I have the Tanabe Super racing medallion, and that **** is loud. I mean loud. If your looking to wake up neighbors and set off car alarms, then go for it. if not, keep as far away from Tanabe and Apex N1 as possible hehe. I'm kinda sad that I got it now, its just a tad bit too loud for me. gotta go really really light on the gas if a cop is within like 2 blocks in any direction haha. My .02's. If your looking for a bad *** sound/not too loud, I say go for Apexi World sport. that thing sounds nice, or go for Greddy Evo, isn't super loud and has a nice deep tone. or, if you want a really really deep tone, get the Tanabe DTM, it isn't a strait-thought so it wont give you the greatest hp gains, but it sounds hella nice. Laters!

I think the Mugen is the quietest if you want the stock kinda sound.. the WS is supposed to be quiet.. here is a site that you can listen to the exhaust sounds..

http://www.listentomyexhaust.com

I have to say that I am grateful to whoever thought of this idea.. haha... hope this helps.

I have a Thermal on my 4th Gen and it works GREAT!! Nice sound and sounds EXACTLY like a stock exhaust when crusing on the highway between 3-4K rpms.

Just remember, there is a reason why you don't see many people selling off their used Thermal exhausts. You see MANY Apex N1s and Gredys.

Thermal is all stainless steel. Greddy is not and will not last as long.

skunk2, with silencer removed sounds insane, but deep and very solid. Everyone tells me it doesnt sound ricey. I love the finish and the way the can and tip are made vs the apexi n1.
I set off car alarms daily.(I can fit my fist in there)

Out of all the exhausts talked about- Greddy Evo, RS-R, Apexi N1, Apexi WS, Thermal,... and all the others mentioned in this thread, which few give off the most HP?

Isnt the N1, the exhausts that comes out at an akward angle. If thats the one, im not diggin it at all.
