Im about to go check out a b18c head tommorow, my knowledge of what to look for is limited so I was hoping for some of you guys to enlighten me on special methods to spot messed up components? Or what to look for etc. I know this is very vague but any help is appreciated.

 

1 all assembly beign there ex
cams, caps, valves, retainers, followers, sensors

2 bent valves make sure that all are seating perfect

3 cracks where the antifreeze travel and oil as well

just to mention a few..

 

Look for head code P73 and green paint/marking on the backside where the distributor would bolt onto.
