Well,
you know we have a lot of GI`s in Germany and sometimes it happens I talk to them (if they drive an Integra... GSR or so)...

Last week I spoke to a US-soldier. We compared our cars (he drove a nice GSR) and we talked a few minutes... He asked me where I got my knowledge from because he noticed there`s no Honda aftermarket in Germany. I mentioned this board. He looked at me with a grin on his face and said.." I`m not very often at Honda tech... those guys are dicks".. I was like WTF ?

I mean, I love this board. There may be a few "dicks" around here but also a lot of good guys.

Almost every GI I talked to told me the same story. Why do your own people call you dicks ?

This board can be pretty hard on Noobs, at times. Some of the guys come off as quite arrogant, almost snobbish. Maybe some people can't get past that?

 

One of the mods probably scared him off. Anybody wanna take bets as to whom that might be?

I'm not suprised, although it is quite disapointing none the less.

 

I was a GI at one time. I was a dick on this board. And i was in germany for 4 years. Darmstadt was the town.

 

They can make it into the millitary, but not on HT??....hrm.

 

ya this board is harsh sometimes, but when u get the hang of it nothing beats this board

 

There is a lot of great information to be had and friendly people to meet on this board, but there are also a lot of flamers and a$$holes in general. I can completely understand his feelings towards not visiting or posting on this board too much.

well most of the guys I saw in Germany that were in the military were ricey stunnerz! There where a few guys from Ramstein and Spangdahlem that had some nice clean rides and they were HT'ers but they all left....what's there now are altezza's and 17s...

WHich is probably why they said we are dicks cuz they posted their rides and probably got flamed to all hell!

 

i kind of like how everyone snaps at everyone....atleast its to the point if it's constructive dickicism.......

if noobs ask stupid questions like "will Type r wheels fit on my GSR"

they deserve to be virtually bitch slapped

on the other hand non-constructive dickicism can be very destructive...like people just going out of their way to tell someone to F%&# off

This is the best board !! you meet cool peeps that help you out and understand where your coming from (helping you with info or getting you good deals for your project ) you just have to becareful the way you carry your self and also went asking a ?? and also keeping this in to a certain level ........

I wouldn't doubt that's the case. It's funny though, because most of the people who are "dicks" on the board, are totally cool when you meet them in person.

There are some on this board who are, but not that many. It's just an internet board, so why take anything personally anyway?

Not that I think n00bs deserve a verbal slap, but I see no problem with irrelevant or beat-to-death topics being locked, moved, deleted or ignored.

yup...i agree with this. too much politics when it comes to this message board. if your not a mod/buddy of a mod/or sponser they (ht ppl) are in general a$$holes.

you cant get mad at someone for trying to learn.

when you make fun of someone because they dont know as much as you then you are being a dick.

if the person acts like they know what they are talking about and dont, then give them a hard time.

in my opinion there are a lot of people here that should just not post comments unless they are constructive. To post telling some one they are an idiot for not knowing if a part fits thier car then you are wasting your and thier time.

people learn by asking. I promise you there was a time in your life when someone could have asked you if a GSR wheel fit on an ITR and you would have no idea. How did you learn? by asking or reading. Asking is faster, however if you have to put up with jerks feeding you crap about how stupid you are then you wouldnt come here.

absolutely. : to the noobs who say something stupid and then when they are told it is stupid react like they were Prince Charles or something...that type of noob deserves the smackdown he gets.

Even among nonmililtary civilians, respect is earned by rank and the ranking is based on experience. If a corporal spits in the general's eye after the general told him he screwed up, well.... they're pretty smart fellows and connect the dots from there...

is it being a dick or is it calling something someone said stupid when it was indeed stupid? calling a spade a spade isn't being a dick....

 

Becaude this board is the biggest source for 1- Information 2- misinformation ... You have to make the distinction between the 2 .
