Default Misshifted..... err:thumbdown:

well i was lost in bufu land today with a buddy of mine, and we were in seperate cars. well he was leading and driving all crazy, so at a stop sign, he took off so i had to wait and then i took off...shifted 1st at 8200, 2nd at 7900, and in 3rd i was s~7500...and then i shifted to 2nd gear
i have also just installed my short shifter that was sitting in my room for a long time(dcsport) and i am used to it and love it while driving normally but i'm not used to racing/shifting fast..so thats also y i misshifted
i was scared shitless...stomp on the clutch and put it in neutral let it cruz and when everything seems to be fine i started to redline it alittle to see how it is..and everything is fine
but when i'm at a complete stop, it seems that i have to rev it higher to start the car moving, i'm not sure if that just me or is it just harder to start moving it
but is there anything i should look for to see if there is any damage to the engine?
i'm planning to do a compression test, either buying the compression tester kit or getting it done. would acura do it under warrenty? b/c since it was my fault, i'm not sure if it covered under warrenty.
let me know what i should do

i did pretty much the same in my ep3.
redlined it, the computer cut fuel. i was scared shitless too man.
i noticed the same thing, the car don't seem to be moving as quick as before. i brought it to honda, they checked it and said everything was fine (along with a big lecture on taking it easy with the car)
so lets hope you'll have the same luck...

Sounds like a clutch prob, maybe glazed a bit. Give it a week or too.

?

The fuel does not cut off on a mis-shift because the car is going already going faster than the gear can handle when it enters the redline. The fuel cut off only works when you enter the redline area while pressing on the gas, not just by letting off the clutch.

good advice, it can't hurt to get used to that short shifter you just installed before you start "slamming" the gears.

Well your motor should be ok.But if it starts idling rougher then you may want to have it checked out. Also if you did mess up your motor the odds of the dealership fixing your motor under warrenty is 50/50. But if they find that short shifter you are not getting ****. Well good luck bro and learn your car first before you run it hard. Do not learn the hard way like many of us did.

yea..i didn't mention this but i had my short shifter on for around 2-3 weeks, and i have gotten used to it but i just i was trying to catch up to my buddy instead of concentrating on shifting. oh well everything seems to be fine :relief: hopefully this will be my only time misshifting
and i hope some of you can learn from my mistake b/c u do not want to feel the way i'm feeling...
get to know ur car again after any mods that was just installed!

i dont know about you guys but i recently bought a 90 civic si with the d16a6. and wasnt used to the low red line (other car is b16a, built to handle revs and such) iv miss shifted twice and ran into some fuel cutoff like 3 times... opps. still no problems. runs just the same.

If you are going 80 mph in 3rd, and go into second, you can cut all the fuel you want and the engine will still over rev. It's the wheels turning the engine, not the fuel.

Not true...the "redline" point regardless cut fuel via a transmission from the ecu wheather your on the gas or not
