Axxis Ultimate Pads?
Time for me to change out my stock pads and rotors (lasted 66k miles on both), and have heard a few things about these pads on cobaltfriction.com. Anyone using these or can give me an idea on how they perform? Im looking for a better brake pad than stock, but mainly for street use since i daily drive my car year round. Any info/reviews would be appreciated.
yes they are a big improvement over stock and have less fade than stock pads, however they have lots more brake dust (since they are track/auto-x pads) and are kinda smelly after you get it on hard.
I know that this sounds rude, but if you use https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch and type in axxis and search archived topics...you get 57 results with quite a bit of information.

My cw wheels are nearly staind black.
But yea, Andie offers great customer survice.

There a great pad for the street and some occasional track usage . From my expirence they fad pretty easy at the track. There a good upgrade from stock pads. One draw back is the tend to dust alot.
I will second that on Cobalt

well I've heard Axxis Ultimates are awesome and that's what lead me to purchase them for my ITR brakes. had a question though for all you with them. what was the part #'s for the Ultimates for Type Rs? I just got mine in today and the fronts are 109-05030 and the rears are 109-05370 but on Cobaltfriction.com the part# for the rears are different than the ones I got. I hope I didn't get the wrong ones but if anyone knows the part#'s that would be great.

Just got mine yesterday and installed already with new Autozone rotors. Still in the "break in" period so I can't say if they are better than stock. But damn, the Autozone rotors are cheap!!! $25ea..

They are some good/great pads for everyday use, And if you hit the track once in a while you will be happy.
I have about 12k miles on them and like them.
they have a quick bite and good modulation.
I also got them from Andie at Colbat...

With the P's I learned to run the stocks in rear though ....</TD></TR></TABLE>
R4 would be a better track pad, but there is no way the R4S is a better pad than the Ultimate. Noisier, dusts more, and doesn't have the same "bite" as the Ultimates. They also "hotspot" the rotors and crumble if they get too hot - I did this on the street. They also seemed inconsistent, such that they felt good some days and like they weren't working any better than stock the next.
Still, the R4S is waaay better than EBC.

I have these on the rear only and I can't tell any difference from stock during street driving conditions. For AutoX and canyon runs they're much better, I haven't been able to get them to glaze at all and I never noticed any fade.

Heres my simple guide: if you AutoX/canyon run/road race/hpde/solo 1 etc and/or get the rotors glowing orange get Axxis ultimates or something better. If you don't do any of this stay stock. The stocks are perfect (imo) under normal conditions. They brake dust very little, bite hard all the time.
Why I reccomend this is because I have the GT-sports. When I didn't clean my wheels for 2 weeks I had brake dust so thick you couldn't see under it. When I went to clean it off it had bonded with the paint in someway so I couldn't get it off. Now I have black specks all over my wheels. I never had a single case of this with OEM pads! Damn the brake dust.
The best thing you can do for braking is having good rotors with no warpage/cracks/damage, good brake lines that don't flex, and pads that aren't glazed cracked etc.

Ultimates dust, but it isn't corrosive.
Brake temps from a single high speed stop (80-100 MPH) can easily exceed stock heat ranges, at least on non-ITRs.
I really haven't experienced a downside w/ Ultimates yet, but I'm switching to Ferodo DS2500 just the same - hoping to increase the performance a little bit.

The D536 and D537 are interchangeable part numbers for Honda/Acura vehicles, with only slight differences in thickness. The D536 is 0.8mm thicker overall, including the backing plate, which amounts to approximately 0.031". The D537 also has an anti-rotation lug on the inner pad, while the D536 does not, but both will work in a given Honda/Acura fitment.
