difference between these ecu's?
No both of those ECUs are DPFI. PM5 was found in most DX and STDs (and LX to). PM9 was found in some 91 DPFI cars. I think the 9 had even crappier fuel maps than the 5. You could swap in an ECU from the 5, but I highly doubt you will notice any gains.
