Which coolant temp sensor for ZC?
My radiator fan isn't working and I believe it's b/c the coolant temp sensor is bad. I pulled the wires off the sensor and placed a jumper wire between the two and with the ignition on, the fan came on. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but that means the coolant temp sensor is bad. I read that in a post on here somewhere. Anyway, I ordered a coolant temp sensor for an 89 crx si for my dohc zc. I figured all d- series engines would have the same cts. Is that true?
coolant temp sensor of the fan switch??
my fan switch went out a while ago and I had to replace it.....car specific I guess not motor.......
the coolange temp sensor is right under the exhuast cam right?? 1 wire sticking out??

The sensor I'm talking about is on the back of the engine, right above the oil filter. It is green and has two prongs. It may be in a different location on ZC's. I keep reading about it being under the distributor. What exactly is under the distributor and what is the part I'm talking about. Do I have the parts mixed up? Please someone clarify this for me. My problem recap: fan won't come on. Fan comes on when sensor on back of engine is bypassed, leading me to believe that sensor is bad. The sensor is the coolant temp sensor, right? What sensor is below the distributor???
Hmmm...not sure.......when I disconnected the sensor under the dizzy, my temp guage did not work.....so I'm guessing thats the coolant temp sensor...
I've never looked behind the block...I'll have to check it out....

The sensor on the back of the block by the oil filter is the "Coolant Temperature Switch" when the coolant reaches a certain level it completes the circuit allowing power to go to the fan relay, then to the fans. The sensor under the distributor is the "Coolant Temp Sensor", the one next to it with the single wire tells the gauge what the temp is.
If the fans came on when you connected the wires, which it did, then your at the right spot, my fans didnt come on as well with my zc so I jus wired up my own fan switch to bypass the CTS...any D-Series will work so the Si one you got will be fine.

I just ordered one from Honda $38. They called it a "thermoswitch". I was getting confused and calling it a "coolant temperature sensor" instead of "coolant temperature switch" I didn't realize there was a difference. I heard people talking about both and I wasn't sure which one was called what. Thanks for clearing everything up.
