Default Horsepower needed for HIGH 12's?

Planing on geting a EG hatch soon, CX or VX only. How much horsepower will it take to hit either LOW 13's or HIGH12's on some drag radials and in stock 2100 lb trim. Im thinkin 200 WHP should be enough. Anyone ever hit those times with 200 WHP on street tires?

All you need is 190whp.

I went high 12s with 189hp/139tq

And my car is heavier than yours. But you want to run drag radials...that
should makes up the weight difference.

DAhm, thats less then i thought. Thought i was gonna need some BIG cams. Now im thinkin a nice streetable LS-VTEC setup. p30 pistons, port/polish, CTR headgear and cams. Decent bolt-ons and tuning shmooning. That should be good for 190-200 WHP. I still gotta get my EF sedan to the track, poor mans TYPE R powered. Thanx guys.

But with 190WHP, how light does your car need to be? Obviously in a Honda Prelude, 190WHP won't cut it.

can this question really be answered? There are a lot of determining factors here. Elevation, temp, track etc... I had 162whp and 102 tq and was at 13.2. So if I had about 10ftlbs more and 15hp more it would have been 12s easy. So for me to answer your question would be 177whp/112tq. HTH!

Depeneds on what track you're gonna run it at. I see you are in CA, if you are gonna go up to LACR to run, you're gonna need ALOT more than 190whp, a stock ITR runs 15.30-14.99 at LACR, where as in other parts of the country there are people easily hitting 14.50s.

Depends on the track, and conditions, oh...and it also depends if your Check driver light is on or not

You don't need more horsepower, you need more traction.

what about my EM1, is it possible to reach 12s with GSR block i got, with b16 head? car weight stock is around 2600-2700lbs , heh it could use some strippin down, but would it be able to hit 12s with a crazy head setup and gsr bottom with near a 12.0 compression, dont know how much weight i can strip down tho, later also plan to lighten flywheel, change final drive or get lsd too, it should be able to rite?

edit: Was too amazed at the 1 second drop, can you go into detail on the setup of the motor and how much weight reduction was done?

Well when we ran the car on street tires it had stock CTR exhaust. (the way its driven on the street) when we ran it on slicks it had the JG race B pipe, gutted out, and lightened doors. hope that helps. the EF would have ran just as fast but the owner of the car never drove on slicks before.
