i'm going to the junkyard in a few days for a transmission .. how do i determine if one is good? what are the key things to look for? most of the trannies have an unknown amount of mileage, so it's kind of hard. any help would be appreciated...

w/out taking the bell housing off theres not much to inspect. look for cracks or any signs of leaking. check the arm that engages the throwout bearing.
