200 HP CRX vs 300 HP Accord
Who do you guys think would win... A 2000 lb 200 HP CRX or a 3000 lb 300 HP Accord... Granted i kno alot of it depends on tha driver... Lets just pretend they are both perfect drivers... Who would win?

I think the CRX would win. I read somewhere that everytime the weight increases you need twice the power to make it go just as fast. So I think the Accord would need to be 400hp to be equally as fast.

In theory i was thinking tha same thing... But that is why i asked cuz i dont really kno...

Okay, i just put up some info into Excel. This is basically horsepower per lb, it's just that it's multiplied by 1000 so that comparing's a bit easier.
STOCK CRX - 108 hp, 2174 lb. hp/lb*1000= 49.7 hp/lb
STOCK ACCORD - 145 hp, 2954 lb. hp/lb*1000= 49.1 hp/lb
200 hp CRX - 200 hp, 2174 lb. hp/lb*1000= 92 hp/lb
300 hp ACCORD - 300 hp, 2954 lb. hp/lb*1000= 101.5
These are all figures i've pulled from manuals and whatnot, it's all very general.
Anyways, as you can see, when stock, they're pretty similar. But when the accord gets the 100 hp boost, it's a bit quicker. Hopefully this is right

Yeah, he's got it right. It would be fairly close, in my opinion though. Gear ratio's must also be taken into consideration. If the driver of the CRX has a gear ratio such as 2.9...and the Accord driver has 4.1....then the Accord is going to accelerate much quicker...even if the CRX does have the weight advantage.

well LENGTH is the race? 1/4 mile, 1 mile, race to a certain MPH or a freaken highway downshifting battle?LOL though.
I want to know this too bucause my old boss just bought a new accord V6 240whp and 225tq and i wanted to know if my stock B18c in my EF will be able to take him out in the 1/4 mile?
haha I know i would beat him in a stop light to stoplight race though.

WEll, for starters, if it makes you feel better..from what I can find, the new Accord has 240 hp, and *212 lbs-ft* of torque...not 225. He might have a different model, or something, but that's what I have found. Assuming you have the USDM B18C..you're making something about
170 (195, if you have the R..) hp @ 7,600 RPM
128 lbs-ft @ 6,200 RPM
Your final drive is what, 4.4, or something? I'm not too familiar with the 1.8L Tranny's...
The new Accord's final drive is 4.43...and the quartermile time (I had to look this up), is 15.0 @ 95 mph.
I'd assume that you could get a jump on him, but man, those Accord's are torquey. That six speed manual that they offer sounds very nice. The fact that your car has nearly 200hp's, and (I am assuming) weighs much less than the 2003 accord, I think you'd have a decent chance. He may have 240 hp, but he's got a lot of car to pull down that track.
I can't seem to find how much the new 2003 Accord weighs..has anyone had any luck?

you needed excel to do that? wow...
but anyways, a 200 hp crx would smoke the hell out of a 300 hp accord. for one thing available tranny. unless you're speaking of the new accord v6, which weights closer to 3200 pds, the only tranny you'd be able to get (if a v6) is a 4 speed auto. the b16 would have a much sportier geared tranny.

The new accord does not have a 4.3 final drive ratio, it has a 3.2 final drive.
The automatic accord runs 15.0, but the 6 speed runs 14.5 (according to motor trend)
As far as the 300 HP accord goes against the 200HP Rex, it would come down mainly gear ratios, among other factors, like the driver. They both have 1 HP for every 10 lbs of car. But the Rex would probably win because it has more aggressive gears than the accord.
A good example of proof of this is the new M3 has 333 HP and weighs around 3,300 lbs and it runs low 13's.
And if you took a 200 HP Rex that weighed around 2,000 lbs it would also run low 13's, assuming these power figures are both at the crank.

My bad. I got that ratio from here..

The 3.29 is for the V6 6 speed. I was talking about the 4.4 for that one guys' accord..assuming it is not a 6 speed.

See tha only reason i started this thread was because i cant decide to go with a 90 - 91 CRX Si... Or a 95 Accord EX... Im leaning towards tha CRX cuz it would take less money to get 200 HP out of it than it would take to get 300 HP outa tha Accord to be equally as fast... Also assuming that once i get a swap into tha CRX i can turbo it in tha future for 300+ HP... And kick any Accords ***...
But i was still curious as to what you guyz thought... This is a good thread...
