What to do for rear wheel drive spindles/hubs?

My brain is a constant storm of new ideas and crazy contraptions.
I have a wrecked Del Sol that is begging for something relatively unheard of. I also have access to an H22 swap that would be perfect for what Im trying to accomplish, but Im stuck on something:
the rear hubs. The only thing I can think of is to use a whole front suspension system, obviously retro-d and made to bolt to the rear of the car. I would use some adjustable "rods" shall we say to replace the rack and pinion of the stock front suspension. They will be solid, but will adjust for toe.
Anybody else have any ideas they wish to share? This could be completed by winter, time permitting(manifolds to make, and lots of them).
TIA
this is foced induction related, because of course, itll be a turbo h22...

I have also been looking into such a project and you might want to check out some old RTAWD Civic Wagon rear suspensions...there may be some members you could salvage from that, though the 84-87 are SIGNIFICANTLY different from an EG style...
If your speaking of a mid engine del sol than that would be awesome.
Maybe take a look into MR2's, or basically any mid engined car....hell, even a Fiero.

Im speaking of something. Ive decided that the ONLY way it would work w/out breaking my meager budget is to rape the front suspension system off another EG, and use that in conjuntion with a traction bar system to keep the LCAs completely solid. As for the steering linkages, just used solid adjustable links as stated above. I think I will have a nice combination if I can keep the spindles from turning like they were designed to do

screw it, just make it rear wheel steering too like the bad *** preludes
i don't think it'd be too bad if you just pulled the hubs w/ splines out themselves and make a 4 link style rear end that mounts to stock pivot/trailing arm points. I've layed under my hatch several times and looked up wondering if it's really that hard to do solid rear axle or rwd for that matter. I've never though about mid engine but i've pondered the simplicity of doing a rwd honda w/ the motor turned 90° and a custom driveline that slips into a spool in a tranny so you don't have to worry about breaking off splines as easy, w/ civic wagon rear end. and bam it's done. if i had a grand extra laying around i'd be willing to try it. I'm pretty sure it'd work ifyou could use a prelude style tranny w/ cables rather than linkage cause that would be the hardest part i think.

What about the rear section suspension from a CRV? There is that AWD CRX in Canada that used modified CRV trailing arms. I believe he had to shorten the length of the arms and possibly some other modifications.
Would the rear spline hubs be interchangeable with front splins hubs using larger axel spline? I'm not positive....just throwing out some ideas.
I believe there was a Top Fuel DelSol that was mid-engine / rear drive, I'm sure it was all custome suspension parts but there must be some photos of that car floating around somewhere.

Take the rearend out of a Chevy Luv...It is pretty small. Just a thought.

EDIT- Nevermind...then you would have to go straight axle.
on me.

The Top Fuel used an NSX engine. Thats too much $ for me
I was pondering the CRV setup, or at least the rear hubs, but those use tiny lil splines. Perhaps swap out the hub for a front one? Gosh, Im not sure, and itll cost some $ just to find out.
As for the shifting, thats why Im going H22, because it uses cables. As far as I know, I will be one of the only people to try this, so nobody really has any experience in this matter...

I know Top Fuel already did it, read the posts above
I coulda swore they used an NSX motor though.
I wonder what the Elises do with the TypeR conversion, in respects to the shift linkages? This is the only reason Im going with the H/F series transmissions...because it would be SO easy to do the shifting. The only hard part left is the rear hubs.

It would be damn near impossible to ahve a shift linkage go from the shifter, BACKWARDS to behind the engine, and then FORWARD to the transmission again, and still have it work, and using the traditional H pattern. Not impossible, but too much to messing around for my taste, when a simpler solution would be to just swap in an h series engine, and be done. 1 less thing on the long list of complications to worry about...
I have thought of this alot and came up w/ some ideas. machining the stock rear hub carriers to fit the front struts. There are 4G awd wagons, but they have tiny axles. you could make the stock shift linkage joint from a B/D trans into a cable linkage thing. Just have to weld on some adaptors.
I am trying to put a EW1 (1G CRX Si engine) into a golf cart, so I have thought out some of these problems.

why not just get some metal tubes and make a rear suspenison setup? can't you weld cast to other stuff? i have no idea. but it seems that would be cheap and easy. Then just make something similar to a 4 link, but have the suspension arms attach to the hub
i agree that it is a very large challenge and a waste of money, but if you knew Cody then you would understand that just fuels the fire. i am getting bored with the norm too so i may just end up helping tink pull this crazy **** off.
also, easy b series rr shift link sullotion. use crv tranny, they are cable.

Oh ya...if I can find one thats 5 spd non awd.
As for the guy that said to buy a 240:
Radiator: Still in the front, just lots of piping to get there, run up exhaust tunnel. Done
FMIC: **** that, I was going liquid to air anyway. I will have a large condenser up front for cooling the water.
I dont know what the hell you were trying to say with the suspension, but that is pretty much covered.
Master Cylinder: Why would I have to move this? All Im doing is removing the rear brakes, and bolting up the new front ones. I see no reason to move the master cylinder whatsoever.
Brakes: your front breaks do 70 something percent of the stopping anyway, so bigger breaks in the rear would be mute.
Oh ya, and the trunk...Thats what the front end will be turned into
Im not trying to "bolt" this **** in by any means. There will be a full tube chassis to support everything, and quite possibly(havent even looked into it) custom lower and upper control arms to support all of this. I just figured itd be easier to drill and tap some holes to bolt something to that is already fabricated.
Ive "heard" of a guy that did a twin B20Vtec 93 Civic, using the front suspension setup retro-d to the rear, so it can, and will be done reguardless of the obstacles.
Anyone else have any input?

Something about a Del Sol doing a 2ft wheelie with slicks at the track....
And free time...whats that (from 10pm-till I cant weld anymore every night after work)?
Money? I can get this done for under $1000 with the car(ok, minus the B series swap that I already have, that will be traded for the H22). Just WATCH ME

The B18c Lotus elise conversion kit from prototype racing includes a shift linkage conversion piece for the mid/rear engine placement of the rod actuated transmission. I thing Joe(owner of prototyperacing) is on this board somewhere.

that thing is badass
But is it designed for Honda linkages, or Lotus linkages? It doesnt look like Honda linkages will "bolt up". Just learning is all...

just for your info, ever seen the kit car made from a accord?well they use the the accord front suspension, its a mid engine as well.

Do it.
If you think u can weld in the front suspension then do it. Honda know what they are doing and its guaranteed to work. As for the links to stop them turning this does work and has been used on production cars (MG-mgf). its just a case of simple geometry to get them in the right place to stop the toe in changing with suspension travel. If you do it this way u'll already have two of the motor mounts anyway. u wont need the power steering. u will need a new fuel tank(no problem, stick it in the front!). You will probobly need new strut tops but thats all part and parcel really. As for the shifting, im sure i saw cable conversions somewhere, but it would be easy to convert and make ur own cable shifter, even easier if u replaced ur shift lever with a solidly mounted one.
Dont try to modify the trailing arms, they werent meant to be used this way and will break (i know, i used to test them).
While ur at it, leave an engine in the front and have all wheel drive 600hp+, again, this sort of thing has been done before, but to my knowledge not in a civic.

Im still pondering a dual-engine civic. it would be cake to use an h22 in the front too. I could probably route everything through one shifter, just splice the cables together, and have them shift simaltaneously
This is going to be down the road though after I get sick of popping wheelies
