Default 1.6 liter.

I was researching different all-motor setups, but of course most of the folks here make numbers on 1.8 liter block, which is better to begin with.

I couldn't really find any info on B16's with some headwork done.
I wish to see maybe some setup's or numbers you guys put down on the 1.6 liter.
Is breaking 170whp possible without touching the internals (maybe thinner headgasket for a little compression bump)?
What cams would take me there?
TIA.

170whp without internals is definitely possible. I'm running mid-low 14's with my B16 EM1, only internal mods are CTR cams. This isnt with anything special either, just AEM CAI, Skunk2 IM, JDM DC 4-1, Crush Bent 2.5" Exhaust.... I'd imagine with a very quality header, and a fujitsubo or like exhaust, 14.0 would be in grasps.

Hopefully I'll have the car on the dyno within the next month to get a baseline. I'll keep everyone posted.

Nice times, for the setup that you have.
Of course when I meant reaching 170 without touching internals I meant stock block, modified head is a must.

I'm looking for some midrange for daily driving and a cam wild enough to get me to break 13's during weekend racing. Any cams are capable of that?

Head milling for more compression, Hondata, cam gears, FPR, and some dyno time. There are plenty of people hitting 170whp with CTR cams and tuning. It will just take some time on the dyno.

For a little more midrange, you can grab the SKunk2 stage 1 cams.

Avanracing62(I think thats his name on here) made 17xwhp and 107tq with 10.6:1 compression, JUN3 cams, JUN header, etc. It's possible.

im basically looking for the same thing you are... a daily driven car running 13's. i just got my head work done and ill be most likely putting in ctr cams with my setup

headwork i just did includes port and polish job skunk2 valves springs, retainers, valves and mugen head gasket.... here are some pics of the work

other things i have are aem cai, dc jdm 4-1 header, apexi exhaust. stock bottom end im scared to run bigger cams than skunk2 stage 1's bc of the valve clearance with the pistons with the thin head gasket

Headwork, JUN 3, ITR IM\TB, Spoon HG, and a nice Header like a TODA. Would make more than 170whp tuned. Probably over 180whp.

hmmm. on a stock bottom end? even with a thin headgasket I think you'd be fine with a JUN 2 or toda B or a sk2 stage 2. Not sure but your pistons aren't domed so I think you'd fine. I guess you wouldn't really know unless you clayed the motor. I've hit 166hp/115tq on a b16a2. CTR pistons, skunk2 stage 1's, portflow/itr valvetrain and stock head (b16 IM, TB, etc). I'd post my dyno sheet but we-todd is down right now.

Here's a couple.....

I also had a friend with a B16A swapped CRX. I/TB/IM/H/TP/E, pulley's, head milled .040, Jun III's, fpr, cam gears, Chipped P28 & VAFC break 170whp.
