Default OK suspension question (again)

I'm planning ahead right now.. and I've decided since I most likely won't be adjusting the ride height at all i'll get a set of just springs with a set of like Tokico Illumina shocks. Anyhow, my question:

Since the car would be sitting lower because of the springs, I'm going to have reduced suspension travel. I have the polyurethane bump stop bushing to replace the factory rubber ones. Since the polyurethane is harder/stronger, I should be able to cut down the bump stops by something like a 1/4" to increase the overall suspension travel back to a more "factory state" so I don't bottom out and induce the negitive side affects of doing so, correct? I mean since the material is harder I can shave them down a decent amount and not have to worry about metal on metal?

Anyone do this with the polyurethane and figure out a happy-medium you can shave off without screwing things up?

I would always make sure you have about 1" of bump stop.. You are correct in theory about the bump stop being hard, thus won't compress as much, but the other thing you have to look out for is the UCA actually hitting the chassis in the fender well, then you really get a disconcerting knocking noise.. Even on my racecar w/ strong *** springs, I still use the bump stops, I have ES ones..

alright, so since the factory are what... 1.75" or so tall, I should be able to chop off atleast .5".... awsome
