Jesus, $750 for an used si tranny! I paid $85 for mine, but it took about 4 months to find and I had to drive about 600 miles. If this is your one and only car I would say, maybe just maybe its worth it, but myself, I wouldn't buy it.

Hit the local junkyards, check out the classifieds here on H-T, hit google and try to find a site offering used ones. $750 is way too much, $250 is about the most I would pay and if this is your only daily beater try switching to a dx tranny or even an hf while you search for a decent priced si.

for 750, i would rather swap a motor
look at it this way, if you buy the tranny for 750 plus installation total would be about 1k
for 2500 you can have a b16a swapped and complete
your 1k is almost half the price of a swap

My friends own a tranny shop, for $300 they could get a fully rebuilt, basically brand new si tranny. for $175 they can get a rebuild kit (the route I took) with all new bearings, seals, and syncros. This was their cost, so figure anything above that as labor / markup.

tell your mechanic that there's a rebuilder in Seatle WA called "Alltrans" and he should give them a call. they only work whosale, so you can't call them yourself.

acording to his sig, he already swapped a ZC into it, so I doubt he wants to swap a B in.
