Transmission question...?
Hey, i have a 1990 CRX si w/ stock tranny that is totally messed. Anyway i picked up another tranny off a civic (88-91) but they didn't know the exact year... but it does have 21 grooves on the main shaft. Will this transmission fit??? Thanks in advance and any feedback is appreciated!
Nope, your '90 tranny has 20 splines. The only L3 tranny that has 21 splines (as far as Civics and CRXs go) is the 1988. Sorry man. You may be able to get a somewhat good price from those guys with 88's that need a tranny if you want to sell it, that is the only tranny that will bolt in to those cars... Stock anyways.
look at the tranny
where that input shaft is.... where the spindles are
if the tip of the shaft before the spindles has no grooves its a 88 tranny
if it has 1 groove it sa 89
if it has 2 grooves its a 90-91
if it is a 88 then the clutch wont fit...

Thanks alot for the help guys, it won't bolt up but the good thing is, is that i havn't paid him for the tranny yet!! So I'll just have to look for another tranny, but in the meantime I'm going to try the GM synchromesh.
