They will actually go forever. But as far as piston rings and such, they usually start to wear after about 100,000 - 150,000 miles. And you'll start burning oil very slowly.
Mainly depends on how hard you drive it and such.

I'll bet you I can kill one in less mileage than that!

My original engine was stolen, so I got a replacement USDM H22A with +/- 80k miles. So far, no problems. Switched to Mobil 1 oil, compression is still good. Change oil every 2k miles. I don't burn any oil unless I'm in VTEC all the time.
I have 114k miles on my original '99 h22a4. She still tugs pretty good, but I've noticed a slight increase in oil consumption, but considering the amount of track time, miles, and my driving I don't have a problem with it. I'd like to see 200k miles before the need for a rebuild/new motor. I went with mobil 1 after the 2nd oil change, and have since religiously changed the oil every 3k miles or less (depending on my track schedule), and have done all other maintenance on time, etc. I even use honda oem filters, each time (not sure it's really all that much better, since the elements are made by fram) it adds to my peice of mind.

when I worked for a honda dealership I saw a 95 vtec with 260k on it without a rebuild
compression was still close and drank about a half quart between oil changes

You've only gone through 3 bottles total?!?!? Damn. I guess that would make me the more 'experienced' nitrous user...

I've also burned through 4 nitrous solenoids, 1 purge noid, and I'm on my 3rd nitrous setup. I just don't spray unless the race is worth it. Most people around me don't want to make it worth my time. The rest are just too damn fast.

h22a's burn oil on a normal basis. whether they have low mileage or 100k. but they can still run strong.
my 93 vtec has 155k and is stronger then my old 93vtec that had 110k. also feels much quicker and stronger then my 99h22a4 i had in my 96 accord.
honda motors in general can take the punishment, abuse, whatever you throw at them.
there is a member here or on po.com that has 250k on his 4th gen. and counting. i believe he's on po.com more though. he just posted about a month ago if you check the 4th gen. forum on po.com.

my dads accord has made it to 300k.... original motor and all, its still going but it does run like ***. my old f22 sohc went on to 215k.... i actually ripped a whole in my oil pan and threw a rod.
my friend's 90 accord has 220,000 on it... only thing that's gone bad was an exhaust valve chipped. He replaced that and it's running great now
i got an 1992 h23 with 130k on it, its been in 4 or 5 accidents and its still had to have nothing major replaced and runs perfect. i can tell i need a valve job cuz theyre stickin' but thats normal

Mine died about 30K after rebuild. That's what you get when you race it every other weekend at the drag strip.
