Default very poor mileage

i only getting about 20mpg while doing 50/50 (highway/city) and shifting no higher than 35k.

here's what i've done trying to improve but see no good results:

4 wheel alignment and balance
5w30 mobil 1
no using air-conditioning
performed a 90k service at acura 6 months ago... car only has 80k
i drive in the bay area so climate is always around the 70's or lower.
been using cheveron 91 or shell 91
car only has aem cai and dc 4-2-1 headers

any clue on how i can improve my mileage? do i need new plugs or wires? i replace my platium ones in 2000... the car is a 96 gsr. thanks!

Do you have a check engine light on? Maybe MAP sensor, air/fuel (4-wire o2) sensor, or leaking vacuum lines...those are a few things you could try testing and/or checking out...good luck...

Check your air filter to see if it's drity, check your plugs and wires, check your oil to see if it's black, etc... Oh and stop shifting at 35k....

Check ur plugs, if they are dark then you are running rich and using more fuel than you should be. Then you can go from there

i goto 4000rpm in 1st, and 2nd, then shift into 3rd for a few rpm then 5th and cruise at 60kph (40mph) on city roads where it is limited.. i get 32mpg using a/c and with some spirited runs.. check the airfilter and maybe the o2 sensor. btw, i got a 94 gsr with about 95k miles on it or so.

<FONT COLOR="red">"Learn to drive" Inappropriate !!!!</FONT> Lol

My suggestion (for myself too .. cause I can't get better than 25 mpg no matter what I do) is fuel filter and new air filter.. I have a shortram ram on my GSR and I need to get a cai .. so I'm just waiting until i get hte color air setup before I get a new filter.. (comptech icebox w/ diy corner intake.. love it)

Plugs...

I have 15k on my copper plugs and I'm noticing a decrease in gas mileage.

Get new plugs

i'll check my plugs and lines... (should my platinum plugs last me 4 years?)
fyi, i changed my fuel filter when doing the 90k maintenance and cleaned the air filter about 3 months ago. on a side note... i get only about 15mpg when i shift in the vtec range.

I get 24 in city and 32 on highway, the trick is to always try to coast in neutral and avoid using the gas and brake pedal. Maker sure your injectors are clean too.

I have the same freaking problem on my 94gsr and my motor is all stock, never had anything done to it. I done the full-tune up not too long ago with all OEM parts and it's hasn't help much.

Change the spark plugs, sprak plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, dis. cap & rotor and still no good. I am average about 20mpg going 50/50 city, highway and shift about 3 to 3.5k.

I get 26-30mpg depending on conditions, but its usually around the 28mpg mark with 50/50 combined city/highway driving

only one person thought about their fuel injection cleaning. Bro My fuel injection was so bad that I was getting 11 miles per gallon! I would suggest that. If it aint that, then your doing something wrong.

you don't need a fuel injector cleaner if you use a high quality gasoline, such as chevron(with techron additive). that is not very good mileage though. i get about 24mpg in city and 32 on the highway...and that is with an auto and not always taking it easy.

make sure your cat. hasn't collapsed. happened on a car of ours and with so much backpressure we got very dismal mileage.
