anyone know this civic? (interesting shifter)

ED Civic Hatch...

with a crush bent exhaust (he stole my idea)...

and an interesting shifter...

and a different dash...

and a rollcage.
The owner didn't seem too keen in answering questions. I asked him about the shifter and i got a rather arrogant response. I don't think he did well either. He had a turboed LS engine.
Guys like this are the reason why I built my CRX.
looks good from the outside
a lot of work into putting that 90-92 integra dash into the hatch. looks odd....
anyways... why that high??? maybe he likes to rally....
and yes if he is coky about it then he might havent sweat enought to value his car....and other peoples interest...

Actually to me it looks like the shift linkage is mounted inside the car instead of below it. That is very bizarre. Looks like that shifter sits up super high. What a ghetto car.

crush bent looks pretty much like theres ripples around the corners. on most factory exhausts this is what they have, the metal crunches pretty much when bending it.
other bends, which are smooth around the corners is called mendrel bent

Exactly.
The shift linkage is routed thru the firewall, rather than under the car

This is a pure cone carver move
This shifter is overly complex and unnecessary for road racing but cone carving the proximity to the steering wheel may give a small gain
Although there would be much simpler ways I think it's good he tried new things

"Wouldn't it be much more easy to just custom weld yourself like a Jeep/Big Pickup style long shifter to make it closer to the wheel"
No because this does not address the pivot point and so you would had about 1.5ft of movement to shift gears
You could do this and change the pivot point with some basic mods

Now that I think about it if you were able to make a bracket to hold the pivot point up higher you could just extend the bottom of the shifter. But then again it would seem you might need to make the hole for the shifter bigger. Either way its a waste of time if you ask me.

I'd think it's kinda odd having to raise your hand in order to shift

its actualy like rally style. the shifter closer to the steering wheel. the closer the faster u get to it.

That teg dash int he hatch looks good. The GSR cluster must be nice to have with a 150 mph speedo, as well.
I like that color on the hatch... I might repaint mine that dark vette blue popular in 2000-2001, which looks a good bit like that.
Mad props on everything but the missing moldings and the weirdass shifter, unless the shifter works well.
for originality.

I think that car is pretty nice. The outside looks good, the dash is clean, gauge placement is nice, shifter looks odd but is cool, it's like the newer civics somewhat. And the turbo ls is definetly a
, it seems like it'd be a blast to drive! Ditto the statement with blanking out the plates too.

i saw a raised shifter once in this drift movie with all nissans...it was some jap dude...but they are really short and that shifter was just as long as the one in that hb...maybe they just like it or something...i dont know
