Default Good way to spend $40...

I just installed a pair of Hella air horns and man all I can say is don't test them in your garage. My ears are still ringing. So the next time some less skilled driver tries to occupy my space while I'm still in it, they'll wonder where that big truck came from

i have never used my horn in an emergency situation, i only use it to signal people to let them know im waiting outside their house and get out here already.
I dunno why i never used it, but maybe it has to do with how wimpy it sounds
thats why i adopted to use my brights when i wanna signal my friends telling them im behind them or whateve,r and if people cut me off i'll highbeam them to let them know....but i wouldnt mind upgrading the horn, just for the heck of it

I installed some FIAMM air horns in my car too a bit back. The ones w/ two horns, about 6" and 8". Yeah they're loud, but they sound goofy as hell. I kept them in because I like having a strong horn to tell people that they fucked up, but they're almost more embarrassing than the stock one.

Do the aftermarket horns you guys have have that goofy toy car sound to them too?

i would suggest just getting a Chevy/ford/etc truck horn or BMW/mercedes/etc horn so it still sounds like a horn but not goofy like the ***** stock one or a air horn

I've tried to use it. Even though the Teg is the only car I've owned, common irritated reaction dictates that I lift my hand and smack the center of the steering wheel. This frustrates me even more because not only did my car fail to make an angry sound, my hand is now bruised and I look like an idiot. Plus, not having the horn there denies you the pleasure of hitting something in order to make the horn sound. I have considered how funny it'd be to have a fog-horn on the Integra though... heheh

These are the ones that are actually horns, right?

Has anyone used the Hella horns that are circular? Sorry, I don't know the correct way to refer to them.

I bought the Hella 2 horn kit for about $30. They make a 3 horn kit too for $40. I can't tell you what it really sounds like other than maybe it's like the Ferarri sound someone mentioned. It's loud, that's all I care about.

It wasn't that hard to install but you will need an L bracket and a piece of metal strap, the kind with holes in it, preferably the thicker stuff to keep it from vibrating or flexing. I don't have the resonator anymore so I put them in that space facing slightly downward. I had to trim the end of my CAI a little to move the filter inward to gain a little room. You do need to wire in the relay to the battery and stock horn wires, but there's no wire cutting involved. I snaked the wires from the relay to the horn wires thru the air intake hole behind the ABS accumulator. I guess I could have left my stock horn hooked up but I figured why bother, you couldn't hear it anyway with the louder horns.

I got these horns for free from my friend. The sound is so much better than stock and i like it better than air horns. This sorta has the euro sound, you pinoys know what am talking about.

i've got the tricked out, discordant shriek horn setup... (stole the idea from an old friend)

hella dual air horns + FIAMM dual air horns running off 1 compressor - you just need an extra "Y"

believe me it's plenty loud even though it's just one compressor. you end up with 4 horns, all slightly different in length giving you this startling, freaky mad sick *** shriek that scares the **** out of people which of course is the whole idea...(lay into it in a parking garage, as long as your windows are rolled up)

yeah us Pinoys know what you're talking about. Those are the Hella Twin supertone horns. I have them installed on my Mighty Max. I'm pretty sure there are the ones you guys are referring to that sound like a Ferrari's horn. I have a set of Bosch horns installed on my Integra. They are twice the size of the Hellas and are twice as loud. I was told they are OEM old school Benz horns. As Jonster said, the Pinoys should know about these too.

Here's a page with the 3 horn install. It's pretty complete... http://www.integra.vtec.net/geeser/horns_install.html
