can i use b16 water pump with gsr belt. QUICK!! BEFORE 700PM!!
for lsvtec. vtec water pumps are the same and then the non-vten ones are different right? i want to know fast b/c if i order the parts before 700 i get them saturday and can start final assembly. thanx
The only distinguishing feature b/w B-series water pumps is that VTEC pumps have 22 teeth and non-VTEC pumps have 18 teeth.
The problem with using a B16 water pump on an LS/V-TEC conversion is that like it is said above, the teeth are different. On top of that, the B18 block is longer by about 1.25" than the B16 block.
So to sum it up, if you used the B16 water pump on the B18 block, it doesn't matter what timing belt you used because it would be the incorrect length.
Your best bet is to just use the B18 water pump AND the B18 timing belt and you will be okay.
Good luck

yea so the b16 and gsr w/p have the same teeth ill just buy the gsr timing belt(which i did anyway at 600pm yesterday) to make up for the taller block.

i second that, its simple vtec water p.=vtec belt, non vtec water p.=non-vtec belt
also the difference between b16 and b18 blocks its only like 7mm not 1.25 inches

correction... non-VTEC water pumps have 19 teeth. but the different pumps do look exactly the same besides the pulley.
