I have a few questions about installing some Ground Control Coilovers. I did a serach, and got too many mixed answers.. So here goes.
1. Do you need a spring compressor if you currently have springs and are installing coilovers?
2. My spring rates on the GC's are 250, and 180, the 250's go in the back correct, but should i use the larger ajuster or the smaller ajuster on the front?
3. Do i need to get a camber kit? Im only putting on some 16's so i didnt think i had to?
4. I heard that If you plan to lower your car significantly, then you will need to trim the bumpstops in half and cut down the strut shaft shield to 1.5 inches.. is this true? Why is this so? What does the bumpstop and strut shaft shield look like?
5. I can run GC's with stock struts correct?
All info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

1.) I never use one- you can always put a towel in teh bottom of a bucket & let the spring shoot into the bucket if you are worried about it.
2.) the 180's will go in back.
3.) If you lower more than an inch & a half or so, then yes, you will want a camber kit
4.) Trimming the bumpstops will help keep the suspension from bottoming out, so it is a good idea.
5.) Yes you can use stock if in a pinch, but I would suggest at least getting s=ome KYB GR2's if you can't afford nice adjustable shocks.

#11 is the strut shaft shield (also called a dust shield)
#13 is the bumpstop

I dunno bout using a bucket and towel to catch a spring, either borrow or rent a spring compressor. its not worth risking a spring shoot out and either hit your car or worst nail you between the eyes

1. No. BUT the only time I remove a spring from a strut without a spring compressor is when I use an impact gun on the top nut. I lay the coilover assembly flat on the driveway and use the gun. The stock shock and spring will shoot off, but not with a whole lot of force. Make sure you aim it AWAY from anything.
2. What's up with those springs rates? 150# in the front is softer than stock.
3. Depends how much you lower the car.
4. Read the instructions from GC. Mine said to cut the bumpstops and completely remove the shields.
5. Yes.

My car is a 91 CRX HF? I didnt get the instructions with these, i bought them used from someone here on honda-tech. Hmm, how hard is it to install a camber kit? I was thinkin about droppin my rex about 2-3 inches..slamming it, should i really invest in a camber kit? Ebay camber kits okay? ALSO, my bad, the spring rates are 250 and 180. haha my brain is dead
So should i trim the bumpstop and the shield or just not use the shield and trim the bumpstop?

Hate to say it, but you won't want to slam your CRX on those rates. You'll probably bottom out quite a bit, as those rates are barely any firmer than stock. Should have gotten some custom GC's - it doesn't cost any more $ and you have an infinite # of choices.
For a street-driven, pretty low CRX, you could probably use something like 400f/350r...but that's a pretty much uneducated guess (as far as the physics of the car are concerned)...
But give these a shot first, see how it rides at different heights. And you will need to trim the bumpstops, and you don't need a dumb spring compressor - just put the spring/shock in the grass, and put one foot on it. It won't go anywhere. The nut will pop off but I'm PRETTY sure it won't hit you in the eyeball. DISCLAIMER: Not my fault if it does though.
*EDIT* I didn't read your post all that well...it doesn't sound like you're going to slam your CRX...if that's the case, that you're not planning on SLAMMING it, you'll be fine.
Stock shocks aren't the best idea - you'll probably end up having to switch them out after a few months, max.
