wiseco 84mm or cp 83mm
It must be a act of god b/c my block arrived at the machine shop today in Nc. The contents were Je 84mm 9:1 pistons and rings, Darton 81mm M.I.D sleeve kit, eagle rods and my bare 1.8 Gsr block. When the shop i deal with shipped the block i guess they made a bad choice in boxes and the **** got all fucked up. My pistons and rings were damaged and my o-rings for the sleeves were lost. Should i stay 84mm and buy the wiseco set or go w/ a set of cp 83mm pistons? The only reason for asking is b/c everybody says 83mm over 84mm. Can somebody give me some help

what machiene shop here did you send it to??
and go with either. CP's are fine, and so are Weisco. Both are just as good as the other...but, i'd go with the 83mm. YOu aren't going to see hardly any gains with a mm or so...so with the 83, you'll have about the same power and mroe room to **** up in the future

i sent it t othe edge brothers. Thanks for the help, i figured 83mm would be the best but all the other piston companys you have to special order 83mm abd it takes 1 and a half months. I was on the race engineering website and it looks like you dont have to special order 83mm. thanks for your help
I have the 83mm in stock for $495 with rings and shipping included.
Remember to tell the person boring your engine that the clearance is built into the CP Piston. In other words, bore the block to exactly 83 mm and the necessary clearance has already been built into the piston size.
I agree with the 83mm size as it will give you room to rebore the block in the future. Try to get this tech help from Race Engineering

To add on to what Earl said (and for the edification of other potential CP users), when I had my block bored/honed for the CP pistons, CP recommended a .0035" piston to wall clearance, with the diameter of the pistons measured on the line of symmetry .5" up from the base of the skirt.

I know alot of stuff but when you started talking about measuring piston to wall clearance you lost me. My whole block is getting done at the edge brothers in Nc and they were highly recommended by darton themselves. I hope they know this **** already b/c i would hate to say one wrong thing and **** up everything. ANd thanks for everybodys responses i am ordering my cp pistons tomorrow (83mm).
