hey..this topic is for a friend of mine. he has a 96 prelude si and wants to hit 13s.....he has an aem cai and racing medallion catback. he plans on using nos as his forced induction. can anyone describe what parts he needs to get and what he needs to get done(port polish ) etc to be able to break into the 13s w/ 50 shot nos......thanks alot ~

fit the h22a head onto it, some crower cams definetly a port and polish job..maybe mill the deck on it. and lighten the heck out of it somehow. without going turbo and a bigger shot might be hard.

It shouldn't be hard to hit 13's with NOS. Just make sure he has I/H/E and premium gas, 1 step colder plugs, and an AFC or FPR of some sort and GOOD driving.

Driving is the key. With a bone stock 5th generation someone drove 14.67 (not sure, below 14.80) quarter mile. I saw the timeslip, I don't believe he was lying. It is possible, but thats some good driving. His shifts were:

1st-4th: 7,400 rpms
5th: 7,000 rpms for the quick jolt across the line...

no bone stock prelude would ever need to shift into 5th man

Possible that the car had stock powertrain, but driver had swapped on some 15" wheels w/ drag radials - that could lower the gearing enough to require a 4-5 shift going thru the traps... Just a thought.

Opps.

I posted that really late last night, I didn't even notice I put 5th insted of 4th.

Everything on the car was stock, he had around 5,000 miles on the car. He wanted to see his 1/4 mile before he added parts...
