azenis are great tires.....for autox

im so sick of people reccomending those for everything, as if they are the tire of tires for every situation.

but bad monkey is also right, es100's = ownage. I am about to rock them when I get my liscense & car back next month

At the request of auto-xers every where DO NOT GET AZENIS UNLESS YOU ARE GOING AUTO-X!!!!!!

But our market system doesn't distribute resources that way so all I can do is just request that if you aren't going to auto-x there is no need for azenis.

Look in to some with a high tread rating tire like the Potenza RE-750 it'll last you longer (340 thread rating) and you'll be safer in the rain.

oh yeah don't get azenis, they're terrible in rain, and they're loud, and you don't want them on your daily driver. they last all of 12000 miles before balding...

some more bang for the $ tires: kumho ecsta 711's/712's, dunlop sport FM901s.

As my everyday tire I have the avs es100's, and I'm really starting to like them. They new a few thousand miles to "break-in" v. the azenis that I use as my track tire (road course, not drag strip); the azenis are more immediatly sticky, and have phenomenal grip and are very communicative, but they really are a waste as a pure street tire, honestly.

Also the azenis is not bad in the rain, as I drove 200 + miles in a terrential downpour on the azenis that I sold to RAB (yah, pal... downpour), and made it home after 8 hours at the track, but the es100 is much, much better in this respect, but they're still not the "best" summer tire that I've been in rain with. The so2pp holds that honor.

I am, however, curious to see how the es100's will fair during a track day; I'm curious (since they have near the sheer grip of the azenis -- on street) about weather or not they'll be as greasy as the azenis get (which is one of my biggest gripes w/ the azenis; they get really, really greasy after 2 sessions.)

As far as bang/buck on the street; es100's, re730s', etc. those are still "high - performance" tires, so youre not going to get all weather milage out of 'em, but at least you won't be wasting a dedicated track tire, to pick up the dry cleaning, cigarettes, and coffee.

I don't autox, (not yet) and have the Azenis on my lude. (Not a complete daily driver. I have a truck for a beater) For the price, I love them on mt runs around my area. Can't beat'um...

PS: The yoko parada and parada spec 2 is a "show" tire; meant to look like the business, but it really isn't. The other tires you've listed are all bricks, and I wouldn't "reccomend" any of them, but, come to think of it, where do you live, what's the weather like, what do you want out of a tire (aside from thrift), etc. Throw in some details.

No one told me you have to break in street tire ( you shave, heatcycle, or both for race tires), but every tire changes as it wears, and the first 500 miles that you're on a new set of tires you're wearing away the mold releasing agent; which is why you notice a more immediate change in the tires grip after the first week or so --depending on how much you drive. I should have said , that, the es100's, in my experience, begin to grip more after the first few thousand miles. You'll find this with all performance tires; they've got a sweet spot at a given milage, and for a given compound.

I wonder is Robert and I think on the same level because we've shared the same set of tires.

The Proxes FZ4s are a great all seasontire. Alot of people I know love them. Idrove an rsx-s with them and they stick pretty well. For summer driving I like my SO3s more but they are completely useless in snow so you'll need a dedicated winter tire. both are good choices depending on whet you need out of the tires.

i'd recommend either the Bridgestone S-03 pole position if you have teh $$$, or the Potenza RE750's or Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's if you can't get the S0-3. Actually the GS-D3's rate higher than the bridgestone on tire rack (dont' know how accurate that is) and have a tread life of 280 rather than the 200 of the S-03's.

hehe, i do not doubt the azenis. I was merely throwing everyone off the scent so that a whole assload of people don't go and buy a set and spike the prices up a good $30 supply n demand hehe.

as far as the ES100's on the track, my friend is running them on a 96 GSR and they perform well enough, but do get loosey goosey in the afternoon. They hold well, but not anywhere near as well as a set of azenis. but, all told, he's getting a set of Azenis for his OEM 15's to run on race day.

i've heard different stories about azenis as a street tire, bad wet weather traction to 15,000 mi treadlife to noisey (and good things too), but in the end we all know what they're there for: auto-x sundays.
