my friend has a 2000 accord and he asked me to post this for him on honda-tech, right now his car won't start and he has work tomorrow, so please help:

A few days ago, the SRS light on my 2000 Accord turned on.
I checked the web, in particular Honda-Tech, and found many
had successfully reset the SRS using the
short-the-MES-6second-4second procedure detailed at

The first time I attempted I did see that the SRS blinked
twice after I finished. However the SRS light still stayed on.
So I tried another time. Now bad thing happened - the brakeLamp
light is on, the doorLight is on, the trunkLight is on, and,
I can not start my car anymore. The starter turns but the car
won't start.

Please help

your friend have 2000 v6 accord right? i hope it still under warannty; i would bring it to the dealer.

anyway, i work for honda dealer, i had one of this problem before.....

when u say car won't start? u mean the starter engage only or spin the engine over?

i can't really tell from your complaint.

but here 1 of the things that cause your dash lite to go on...

1St Check your alternator does it label (delphi) brand of alt.
if so,,,,those brand temp to go bad on v6 (that if u got v6)

since alt. supply ground for those lite on your dash,,,,if it defect it would lite up......

2nd...your guage cluster circuit board is at faulty.....(no way to diagnose dis online) i would bring it to dealer.

Same thing happened to me. You might want to check your seat belt buckle. Thats what happened to me. They have a sensor in them. Take it to ur dealer.

 

Thanks very much for the info. It turned out that the problem was caused by a
bad battery. After replacing the battery and resetting the SRS light is gone.
