well the pics dont work for me to see what condition they are in, however this is my suggestion,

How much money are you saving by buying these used springs and ret compared to buying brand new ones? Is the savings of a few hundred, (if that) worth it, to risk your entire motor, and then end up spending thousands more?

Answer those questions for yourself, and depending on the answers go from there, personally i dont like buying used stuff, especially if they are rusted and will be going into my motor.

the rust prob isn't a problem, the thing you need to find out is the spring pressure they might be used up and too soft .

Rust is a very big problem
its the number one cuase of spring failure
In winston cup engines
we look @every spring under a microscope
if there is a hint of rust they get junked
I have alot of pictures of broke springs with the start of fracture migraded from rust.

i agreee wuth you, but since i couldn't see the pics i trused him that they weren't that bad , my point was that he had to check press. of the springs so he didn't buy used-up ****. on a race only set-up i would never even use anything but new equip.but on a street car if the springs clean up and there is no pitting they should be ok.imo
