i dont understand this? i beat an eclipse but he had way more ponies than i did??
i was driving down one of our main roads when all of a sudden this jerk off do rag guy pulls up next to me and speeds up. after about 10 minutes of following we finally got an open road and we took off. i have a red 4 door lx witha puny 102 hp and 98lbs of tourqe. he had a 2dr eclipse gs with 140hp and 130lbs of tourqe. anyways we took off from 65 and it was even at 75 and then he pulled a bit switched gears into fourth and i being a honda still 1.5k rpm left in third. so pulled on him for while he was switching gears and when he was in fourth. but when i hit fourth i pulled on him all day. we finally stopped at 110 and i was 2 cars in front. i dont understand how i could beat him when he has way more power than me?? please explain this or how the motors are different. i just dont understand the physics of this. please help?

Me- lowered, injen short ram, power 1 muffler, and powertech headers.
Him- lowered, gay big *** spoiler, injen intake, and greddy catback. thats all i could see or tell.

Anyway power isn't the only thing that factors into a race, suspension setups, gearing, how strong the motor is.....thsi things all play into why X car beats Y.

Take a 92-95 civic hatchback Si, quick little car, not fast by any means, but more geared and designed to racing or acceleration.
Don't take what I'm saying the wrong way, I want you to learn, so this is where is starts. Take my advice, learn how danerious speeding really is, learn to drive, and most important, give honda a good name and don't race a stock family sedan...
Most of all, do it safe and legal at a drag strip!

i dont really care what you guys say. thats not what im here for. i think its funny what most of you have to say. i know that my car is slow as all **** but its the only car i have to do anything to. i dont have anything to save my money for since i cant buy a new car and i like somewhat improving my car. its fun to learn on and it helps pass the time. oh and by the way i have konig monsoons sitting on kumho supras. so i dont think i wouldve split a tire or anything. i really dont understand why everyone bashs everyone else here. some people just arent as lucky to haver some of the nice *** cars that other people do. there is no need to bash them here though. but whatever keep the replies coming.

Now, about you beating a Eclipse GS...Maybe he wasn't pushing it all the way, maybe his car wasn't running correctly, or maybe even your car is indeed faster then his. Who knows? The bottom line is that there are too many variables to answer a question like this. And in this forum you will get "flamed" for asked such a question, especially when you were street racing.

Then I got a 90 Prelude Si, it was beautiful, exect the engine, I learned by hybriding a new motor into it which cleaned my bank. So I understand what you mean. You seem like a young guy who is having some fun, I'm just telling you bluntly the seriousness of driving that fast w/o experience and or a car built for the purpose. Hey, at least you do have Z rated tires.
Stay here, learn as much possible. Trust me, with the knowledge you gain here you can rebuild your engine for low compression and use fellow members to order a cheap turbo.
Also, I would recommend upgrading suspension, it's cheap and much more fun around corners than 110mph on a straight!!!

thank you 976. i now know you understand where im coming from. this is my first car and its fun to do **** to it. i know its probly a waste but ill learn. as for the suspension i just got finished lowering it with h&r sports. it looks nice cuz its not to low. it also handles much better. i also got some cheapo gas shocks from autozone. 50 each. does anyone have any experience with them? what else can i do to improve the suspension. im gonna get the front and rear strut bars in a week. sorry for the gay question earlier but i just wanted to know if a 102 hp 4 door should be able to beat the 140hp eclipse. oh well. thanks for all the input.
