Do 97 ludes have interior cabin A/C filters?
I know for sure that my friends 98 accord has an interior cabin a/c filter. MY prelud has a really bad smell when you first turn on the a/c, especially when it is hot out.
I figured that changing this filter would at least give me piece of mind. I know that changing the filter in the 98 accord helped the a/c smell alot. Kinda smelled "new" after we changed it, and the old one was very dirty.
Thanks guys

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com shows the 2000 model having the filter, ut the 97 not having one........geez, I cant win.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate the musty odor that blows for a second through my a/c?
Anything would help.
**In the past I have tried various sprays, colones, odor eliminators, etc.**

but the 97 is the newest style, that's odd

I referenced the 99-01 ludes as being "newer"
I see the 97-98 obdIIa as a different gen. than the obdIIb.....I dunno....
looks like the 99-01 preludes got the filter...

Try letting all the cold air out of the a/c vents before you turn the car off. ie: you have the a/c on while driving... Before you turn the car off turn off the a/c and turn the fan on high in order to blow all the cold air out of the system. This will help prevent mildew growth and will hopefully help get rid of that smell. Works for me-

thats doesnt even make sence, a/c is dry air so there is no way it would promote the growth of mildew.

bb2prelude is correct. I always do that when I use my Air. It's simple dudes, hot and cold air creates condensation. Look at a coke can when you take it out of the fridge. condensation builds up on the coke can. I hope most of you don't think the coke can is leaking!
thanks for the information...... i will try not to use the re-circ mode for a while.....
ever smalled lysol disinfectant when it is 110 degrees in your cabin? It smells like decaying bodies........or at least that is my descriptive terms for the horrid smell.

but thats when you transfer the cold item into a warmer temp. there is condensation from an a/c system but that is the puddle under your car when its on. the a/c system is a closed system that allows it to be dry air. that is why when you have really foggy windows in the winter (or after a heated wrestling match with a girl) and you turn on the a/c they clear up quicker because of the air is dry, so it promotes diffusion of the water vapor that is on the windshield.
