Cam gear tuning generalization -- need refresher
I'm going to the dyno next week to tune my new setup and I was wanting someone to refresh me on generally what actions on each gear provide what corresponding action. For example, I know you can tune for high end power or midrange torque depending on how you set them. I just forget which gear action does what. Thanks for the refresher...
Ok I've been refreshed. Just in case anyone's curious:
--intake == more torque, ++intake == more midrange
++exhaust == more hp (top end), -- exhaust == more midrange
--intake == more torque, ++intake == more midrange
++exhaust == more hp (top end), -- exhaust == more midrange
As another thought, if your head is milled, you may want to advance both cam gears.
My head is milled 20 thousandths, and I just set my gears to +3 intake and +1 exhaust, WOW! What a friggin diff.
I break the wheels loose if I floor it on a roll in 1st gear...
Take care,
