Considering how slow the original Beetles were, I think seeing that thing take off would be one of the most surprising things ever

Being an ex-honda owner and now aircooled owner, that puts a smile on my face. That thing would definatly haul!

That Beetle is neat. Never saw that before. If someone gets that Beetle for cheap, I bet it will be a great bang for the buck car. I'd rather have one of these though:
B18C5 Lotus Elise http://www.sunspeed.com/pr_els01.html

Or K20A powered Lotus Exige http://www.prototyperacing.com/

Plus, I can't find my pix at the moment, but the B16A and B18C powered old school Mini Coopers are pretty badass too

i wonder if he hits vtec.

I dont see how the tranmission would fit the motor in a side mounted position.

I want to know what transmission was used, and also how is the engine cooled? Where is the radiator?

That Lotus is called an Exige (not Elise) and it doesnt appear to be a B series motor, more like a K series.

The Elise uses a B series motor, and the Exige uses a K series...

EDIT: Also, it says it has a custom adapter plate & flywheel so i'm assuming it uses the air cooled tranny... AKA 4 speed reverse 1 speed forward... (All you air cooled guys will know what i'm sayin... )

Yeah, I know. If you read my post carefully, I stated the first pic is of a B18C5 Elise. Second car is the K20A Exige.

Yeah. My friend used to have a shop in Santee CA, and there's a BMW repair place there also right next door, the owner is really into racing those baja buggy's, and he only uses B16's. The rules in his series require less than a 1.8 motor, and he likes the reliability of Honda motors, as they race for hours. Custom tranny and exhaust mani. Pretty cool stuff.
