thinking about buying this hatchback need feedback please
well i fouind a hatch for a decent price 2000 dollars its a 93 VX with only 73.000 miles. i think i can talk the person down to maybe 1700-1800. only problme is it has quarter panle damage on teh passenger side and slight rust on teh driver quarter panel. im going to show some pictures and let u guys see what im talkin about. all i really want to know if its worth getting this ride with such low miles. the motor and interior doesnt matter cuz i have a gsr motor and leather gsr seats for it already form my other hatch. i really want to know how much it would cost to get teh quarter panel repaired or if its not worth it. thanx guys
whoa.....thats a deal...but the 1/4 panel is gonna be kinda expensive to fix. my guess is $700-1000 and if i was gonna fix it, i would just get the whole car painted as well
its either this one or another 93 cx i found for 1500 bux but its just a shell and it has no carpet, the passenger doors needs to be replaced, no a/c lines, all teh heater and a/c controls are missing from inside teh car, basically it needs a lot of work and is missing a lot of stuff. i dont know all i know is i need a hatch fast and everyone wants a arm and a leg for them
well i think i would choose this one......
btw wat ever happened to ur hatch int he avatar with the integra JDM headlights?

not to get off topic lol but that hatch was never mine. it was another member on this board i just snagged the pic for my avitar. so back on topic u would choose the green vx? i want to really bad cuz everything else in teh car is in perfect condition just the quarter panel problem. i mean only 78000 miles thats so low.. i just really need to find out how much that quarter panle job is gonnna cost. i dont wanrt to get it painted just fixed and primered so it doesnt rust anymore. any suggestions on how much it woudl cost ?
I paid $2K for my 92 vx w/143K miles and needs a tranny, wont pass smog, needs rims & tires, and has minor bumps and scratches.
Needless to say I let myself get ripped off.
This civic looks good minus the 1/4 panel. The panel its self should run you about 2-300 give or take.
Good time to learn to do body work.
If it runs good I would get it.

Nah pass it up unless you dont care about the body. That body is pretty toasted compared to the savings if you find one with a great body.
Basically spend an extra grand on a better vehicle that doesn't need body work and you will be so much happier.
A good paint job alone is a couple grand and that rust is out of control.

Wait for another one to come along. You can get better than that. Looks good but to clean up that rear will be costly.
Those quarter panels are going to cost you alot of money. I had a dent, about two inches long, removed from my quarter panel. It cost me $1000 to fix. And that was for only one side. $2000 is a good price for a civic with 78k on it, but the rust is the only thing that would sway me away from the car. Good Luck with your decision!

Depending on where its from you may have more rust issues too (like if the previous owner cam from the north then the suspension bolts will strip and break easy.
I'd give them 1500 max for it. That quarter panel to be fixed right will cost you anywhere from 500-1000. And I agree with the other guy.....get the whole car re-sprayed @ that point..even if its the same color its still going to run you about 2000-3000 dollars.

yea i guess thats right. hatches around here are hard to find even for 3-4000 dollars. all i can find are automatic 4 door lx 's 2 dr dx coupes. guess ill keep looking
No not worth the cash!!!! You can wait, shawn i say u keep yours and just buy the other one for 500 and take all the parts and fix yours!! thats me but hey its your cash!!!!
Or just get the 97 for 2000 if u gonna steep that low to get this one or the other one we looked at

Dudue....his frame is twisted. If he buys it back that car will be a slavage title. It won't be worth anything no matter what he does to it.

to get that quarter fixed right with another piece of sheetmetal and cutting that piece out will run you 700-$1000 easily. a replacement 1/4 goes for $550 new. i suggest keep looking.
i bought a 93 cx that had a blown motor and two rust spots(one on each 1/4) the size of my fist and it cost me $600 to fix both the right way and he repainted half the side of my car. all together with a d16y8 swap, act clutch and clutchmasters flywheel and bolt ons i still havent spent $3000... and my car was a 2 owner car that had never been in any kind of accident.
just keep looking unless you dont mind the body work. it is a pretty straight car though..
good luck

Exactly!
**** that ****.
Rust sucks *****. The price to fix BOTH rusted 1/4 panels would easily exceed $1,500.00.
Find another car in GA that's rust free.

I agree with Tom, don't waste your time and money. You think it's a good deal now, but wait until you actually get it home and begin to price all the repair work and have to deal with a whole bunch of hastles getting it fixed. by the time you take care of everything, you are going to wish you just waited for a hatch you were more comfortable with buying in the first place. IMO, if you have to post pictures of a car and get our opinions, it probably isn't worth buying. If you have doubts about the car, then hold off for one you like better

If a car has rust problems here in GA it means either its from up North (Nightmare to deal with), from a city close to a large body of seat water or it sat up for a while
Let me also say this:
I personally know at least 5 locals here that have purchsed awesome condition 1992-1995 hatches for $2,000.00 and UNDER.
All were in good running condition and two of them even had working A/C! All were in great body condition with just minor dings, not dents.
I can even list names and Apexi-ITR will know exactly who I'm talking about probably:
Shane Minko - Phantom Grey 1993 CX for $1,800.00 in near perfect shape. Paint was even semi glossy.
Drew Smith - 1992 Tahitian Green DX for $2,000.00 in great shape.
Tony Lindow - 1993 Phantom Grey CX for $2,000.00 in great shape. Shiny paint and working A/C!!! Only had one dent in the hood.
Jeremy Wilcox - Bought one 1992 VX in decent shape for $1,900.00. Bought a 1992 Si with 300K miles but in killer shape for $2,000.00. Car ran awesome for the mileage and had faded paint.
Also I drove to Ft. Lauderdale, FLA for my car but I bought it for $2,500.00 with a good body and a first-gen B16A swap, HASport mounts, AND a $1,200.00 HALTech E6K stand alone ECU system brand new in the box. After selling the swap, mounts, and ECU I only had $300.00 in the car which only needed minor body work and a fresh paintjob.

Na his frame is twisted, trust me it dont look that bad in person.I looked at it last night while i pulled some parts off of it for mine....We have a 93 civic h/b for parts that we can use so i tought he might be able to take the parts off of it and fix his for alot cheaper,
But i found a few cars in Texas and Louisanna we might just get one of those we dont mind driving if its a good deal
