Default I have to know...

Why do people put wings on their cars? I am not trying to start a fight. I just don't understand, For a wing to be usefull you need to go at least 140MPH. Most cars will never see this speed. I have only had mine to 140 once. Considering the profile of most wings, the downforce would slow your car down more than help it. Just curious.

My Bomz racing Wing does actually WORK. I took it to Louisville car testing Facility and @ 79 MPH the wing gave downforce some work. some are for show.

It does acctually help, giving downforce to the rear of a FWD car does sound awkward but think about it. It's sort of difficult to explain.

http://www.bomzracing.com/prod.php4?p=s2 check this out. this the one I have on my '95.

My friend in his WRX

Was at 140+ but he took the pic himself so he slowed down a little.

ok guys- downforce on the rear of a front-wheel-drive car increases understeer, which front-wheel-drive cars already have too much of. so, if you are going blisteringly fast in your fwd car with a giant rear wing, and you have to make a big turn, it isn't gonna happen w/o a rediculous suspension setup.
BTW, most people who take the time to build a suspension to handle this kind of situation already know about understeer, and would never have this problem anyways (don't have big rear wings). dumbasses

because you need downforce when you're driving around the city.

I used to be a big fan of wings, but now I want to take the Si wing I have my EX. It came with it stock, but I'm just not feeling wings anymore.

because they are ricers and want to look fast, like an F1 car or a JGTC car or a speed touring car, when in fact they have automatic stock civics that can't attain 110

I myself cant go that fast and I was wondering what it would take to get to a speed like that.I couldnt get my car over 115.My friends Top speed in his S2000 was just over 145 And I was wondering what it would take to keep up with him top speed wise

Who cares about top speed? I have topped my car out one time and it hit like 127 and took FOREVER to get there... did it in 4th and when i shifted to 5th it didnt get any faster, just stayed there. It was stupid and felt very unsafe, never done it again

Ask anyone who road races and they will tell you that a wing is essential while making high speed maneuvers. ITR wings for example aren't there for looks, that give a good bit of down force at high speeds. Other then that most people just have wing to look tizite, yO!

People use wings for the look. About 99.99% of Aluminum Wings on FWD vehicles are doing it because they think it is the cool thing to do. Just like people that wear certain types of cloths, "homiee style" "gothic" "prep", do it because it's a "fad" Eventually they will taper off. Plus if no one used the wings, i wouldn't be able to eat lunch at burger king and look out the window and have a comical conversation of the bone stock Family sedan camry that drove by with a 2 ft wing on it. But i will say one thing. If "you" like it. thats all that matters... Everyone has there own opinion. Opinions are like a$$holes, everyones got one.
