how can i check if my oil pump is still good?
can i do this. the motor is not running. is there a way i can check it once its out? i know they have the inner gear and outer gear which spin but how can i check all these parts and confirn that they are in proper working order?
The things I have read about honda oil pumps is, if they go bad
it's because the relief valve gets stuck in it's bore. Not the rotors going bad.

Yes. Articles I've read said "check for scoring, pitting, metal shavings between rotors, in housing and relief valve bore.check relief valve and spring". Got Helms? It explains the whole procedure.
