Im buying a d16z6 engine from a buddy for 200 bucks but he told me that one day he was driving it and it started making an erractic kaa kaa kaa sound from the engine bay. He said that it was random and not consistent and that it loss power and he immediatly pulled over and towed it home. I need to know what this is before i buy it. I plan to rebuild it for turbo. But i want to know what the prob may be so i can replace or fix it so it wont be a prob down the line. Please Help!!!!!

maybe he has some rod knock from a burnt up/worn out rod bearing. how well does he take care of his engine/car? maybe check the engine oil level and if its low thats probibly it. it could be fairly bad; bent valves, un round crank, but if he immideatly pulled over and towed it home and hasn't driven it much since it should be ok. FYI rod bearings are about $17, i just bought one
