Default D16A vs D16Z oil pan question

Are a D16A and D16Z oil pan/pick-up interchangeable?

Now, is there any benifits from doing so?? Or do you just have the Z6 oil pan and need a new pan??

no they are not the same !!! they will interchange but if you put a a6 pan on a z6 block you will have clearance issues with the 4-2-1 stock header . the a6 factory header is 4-1

Thanks! Long story short....I'm looking into a baffled oil pan for road racing and a friend in "the know" asked if they were interchangeable because evidently he has info a D16A pan rather than D16Z pan which is the motor I have. I'll be using a custom race header so OE clearances are not an issue.

Edit: z6 pick-up works with a6 pan or does it need to be swapped too?

I think that the pickups are different, or they are located slightly different. I am trying to recall a previous post, so I could be wrong.

I think the pickups are located differnt. My Moroso pick up for the z's do not work with the new a6 motor i have.

The oil pick ups are different. I think that the z6 pick up is larger, so the a6 oil pan probably won't fit a z6. But a z6 oil pan will probably fit a a6.
