Default just changed coolant and now car is running hot

i don't know what is going on. after i changed the coolant, the manual says to rev the car at 1500 til the fan comes on twice. it never did. i checked the coolant lever in the rad and the overflow and it fine. i so i took it for a drive and the temp gauge got really close to hot. way hotter than normal. i checked the over flow tank and now the it's past the max mark. i haven't openned the rad cap yet. i'm waiting for the car to cool down. if anyone can help me it would be great.

thanx in advance.

Post a list of exactly what you did.
I think you must of did more than drain the coolant / refilled.

Rebleed your coolant system.

With engine cold (or warm to the touch), heater controls to HOT (fan need not be on) and radiator cap off, start her up and let her idle.

Top off coolant if need be.

When thermostat opens, top coolant off again.

After the fan has kicked on/off once, shut the engine off, replace the radiator cap and you should be good to go.

You probably have an air bubble somewhere. You can bleed the system as was mentioned, I also squeeze the hoses while I am filling the radiator.

Yeah, sounds like a bubble in the system. Try bleeding again.

i'll try rebleeding the coolant but, use in case i did something wrong, here's what i did. i drained the coolant. flushed it with distilled water once. after that i filled the rad with new coolant until the bleeder bolt flowed coolant with no bubbles. tightend the bolt and then continued filling the rad until the bleeder valve at the fire wall spewed coolant. it spewed bubbles for a little bit but then it stopped and nothing would come out. closed the valve put the rad cap back on , heater at full hot and started the engine for 30 secs. then checked the rad level. it was fine. started the car again to wait for the fan to turn on but it never did. i took it for a test drive and still no fan and then that's when the car started to get really hot but, it would do it intermitently. really hot for a minute and then cool back down and so on. i havent tried rebleeding it yet. please let me know if i did something blatantly wrong. i can't figure out why the fan won't come on.

Don't worry, I don't think I've ever seen my fan come on. As long as your temp is normal, don't worry about it.

What motor do you have...my fan on my D15y7 never came on either, but when i put my ls motor w/p75 ecu it now comes on all the time as should. So i think its a ecu issue, but as said wouldn't worry as long as its staying cool. Just rebleed, i had to do that several times in order to make mine work correctly. good luck

thanks again

When my Cx motor was close to death it would overheat after driving for 10 or som minutes. I dropped the GSR in and it did it too

Found out it was the radiator fan not turning on So, it's wired to a toggle switch under the dash and is turned on once the motor reaches normal temp.
