i bought a radio yesterday and got the harness that makes it plug and play...hooked it up and no power. used a test light and the power wire is dead. checked the fuse, its fine. now what? do i have to rewire a new power wire and if so where am i wiring it up to exactly. thanks in advance.

 

i hope u know that there are 2 kinds of power wires within the harnness. the colors should be red, yellow and black. red is ignition, yellow is power and black is ground. if u were checking ur red wire while ur ignition wasnt on, its not gonna light up. try it with the ignition on. if it still doesnt work, wire it up to the fuse box

What car do you have? A lot of Hondas have a 7.5 amp fuse in the engine compartment that gets overlooked. Check for shorts also. If you can, get your hands on a digital multimeter. It's a much better troubleshooting tool than a test light - safer too.
